It's not like the UFC didn't try with Werdum. They had negotiations. You always wonder what the problem was when "negotiations break down". Obviously there will be rumors. The question with the UFC is Werdum worth the money? It depends on how much. First of all the like it or not the heavyweight title is tied up for a year. During that time Werdum would have to fight the other guys in the division. The UFC takes a risk if they pay a fighter without a big following a lot if he loses again. Also it's not the guaranteed title shot for Werdum anymore. IMO from a business standpoint it depends on how much Werdum was asking for. If he thought he deserved the same kind of money as before he lost, he was sadly mistaken.

I wonder if the negotiations broke down because the UFC lied to Werdum about a title shot and then completely went back on their word when they shafted him out of the HW tourney.

Way to go dumbasses you just lost another HW and one of the better ones. Utterly stupid.

If he destroyed DOs Santos liek he was supposed to he would be in line after the tourney setlled itself but he got beat that brought his value down much to his annoynance so he left.

Getting KTFO before negotiations will never help you

I never found Werdum overly exciting, or that interesting really but this is a pretty big loss for the UFC in terms of overall depth in the heavyweight division.

Yeah you're right but I bought a "jump to conclusions" game this weekend so I felt like jumping the gun.

Only assuming but I would think this came down to hard feelings on Werdum's side and the UFC pointing and giggling at his last performance as a counter.

Basically I'm just pissed because I like Werdum and wanted to see him get a chance to fight for the title and felt he got shafted on the tourney.

I'll put the "jump to conclusions" game away and wait to see what went down either way it's a loss for both sides IMO.

Am i the only one that doesn't really give a shit? The division is full of grapplers, losing one of the more boring ones doesnt really bother me.

Demian Maia may be the Fred Astaire of jiu-jitsu, but it’s too bad Silva is the Gene Kelly of kicking everyone’s ass.

I'm happy as long as he goes to Affliction. That's where the greatest HW in the world hangs his hat. As far as honor or pride go, that's the one Werdum should want to face.

At the end of the day its Werdum's own fault for letting himself get KO'd by a relative nobody. Its hard to market a guy who people wernt really feeling already after he gets put to sleep in the worst way.
So true.

Although Werdum is a top 10 fighter, his marketability is not where it should be. We could blame both sides for this though.
