Title contender ramblings

Right I thought Iíd give my input of the current title contenders and the various situations.

What can I say about the HW title picture that has not been said before? Brock is an immense specimen and too green I wont be surprised if he beats Randy but if he does it will be by (T)KO and the longer the fight goes on the more the situation will favour Randy. He has been 5 rounds on a number of occasions and while many people question his ring rust, I suggest they check out his fight with Tim Sylvia. I honestly see Randy winning a UD however I think Brock will bounce back and have a long future in the sport hence why I picked him for my FFL.

Nog versus Mir I will join the band wagon and dismiss Mirís chances I believe Nog is better over all and he has never been stopped and I do not believe Mir has the conditioning to last five rounds with Nog so I reckon he will be outworked in the first three rounds then finished in the 4th.

Forrest vs. Rashad, I hug Forrest nuts and I believe he will out work Rashad using a similar plan to what he did with Rampage. I think Forrest will keep Rashad at bay with his reach and leg kicks Rashad is primarily a wrestler and will therefore go for a takedown which Will suit Forrest as he has a very underrated ground game and I believe he will be comfortable on his back. Rashad has surprised me before with his devastating KO of Chuck but Forrest is not a one trick pony like Chuck and will not rush in looking for a KO punch simply because Forrest lacks one punch KO power. Iím gonna go ahead and say Forrest UD possibly by sub late in the game.

The MW title picture is up in the air at the moment by having Yushin Okami fight Dean Lister and rumours of Bisping fighting Henderson for number one contender in June despite the fact that Hendo has to get by Franklin in January so Iíll leave that for now but I said in another thread if Okami beats Lister convincingly he should get a title shot fairly sharpish.

GSP vs BJ pisses me right off, the WW is a really talent rich division and having BJ jump up to the front of the queue annoys me considering there is a wealth of talent at LW for him to fight. However both these fighters are amazing and I reckon it will be a close fight but I feel GSP will win but I donít know how as his main weapon for the moment is his wrestling but BJ is so dangerous on his back but I think it will be a hard fight for both guys. BJís cardio has been suspect in the past and will he be bale to last 5 rounds is anybody guess. GSP conditioning is phenomenal so I believe this could be a deciding factor.

At LW Florian is supposed to be number one contender but he is fighting Joe Stevenson who I believe is a serious threat to Ken Flo. If Ken Flo loses then he will be in title shot limbo and nobody is clamouring to see Stevenson vs Penn 2 as the last time was a vicious beat down. Maybe the title picture will be a little clearer next week.

I agree with you on most of this especially the part about penn pissing you off. I want to see this fight as much as the next person but this crap is really screwing the lightweights over big time.

How can you be pissed off at GSP v Penn fight, i know they can fight other title contenders but this is like the biggest and best match up ever. Two of the best p4p fighters going at it, how can you not love it.
Can you really see Penn losing to any LW's in the UFC? i dont think anyone would come close to beating him. And the same for GSP, Who can you see beating him at WW?, although i cant wait to see him fight Alves.

Alves against GSP is a scary thought, I cant wait to see it. True I can not see anyone beating BJ, but I thought Chuck would KO Rashad, I thought GSP would walk thru Serra first time round and I knew Cro Cop would take Gonzaga's head off with a LHK. Anything can happen in MMA and I have a personal dislike for BJ I know he is talented but he gets handed title shots a lot in very talent rich divisons.

I feel that if BJ worked harder for his title shots I would repsect him more but he does not.

The heavyweight division is for once exciting me at the moment,as well as the documented "mini tournament" happening between randy, brock, nog and mir,i'm also looking forward to seeing junior dos santos again, hopefully soon,i mean he destroyed what was on paper a top 3 or 4 guy in werdum.I would like to see the ufc put him in with shane carwin, who can also bang, would be a good fight.

Light heavyweight is in a transition at the moment i feel, they have somewhat hurried rashad to a title fight in my opinion, reading too much into his win over chuck,i am hoping wanderlei beats rampage, then fights forrest for the title,a sure fire slug fest

Welterweight is like someone said, rich with talented fighters, why they are putting bj and gsp in together BEFORE alves gets his shot is beyond me,and somewhat disrespectful to alves if im honest. This means, whoever wins, alves will have to wait about another 4,5,even 6 months to get the shot he deserves right now.

Lightweight, all i will say is good luck florian,he is the man to carry the mantle and i hope he takes his chance.

Long i know, but thats how i see it.

While I personally really dislike the guy, Rashad definitley is deserving of a title shot. He is undefeated and just stole the UFC's poster boy's soul. There is no one else that could be justified for a shot, except Machida but I would rather see him vs Thiago then Forrest anyways.

And the BJ vs GSP fight was scheduled way before Alves would have even been in consideration for a shot. It is unfortunate situation, but really I don't mind waiting for that fight to see this one.

Otherwise I agree.

Agreed, though I think it screws the WW division more. There the ones who basically got "skipped" in line.
