Why Does BJ get a title shot??

i was just curious what everyone thought about bj getting to fight gsp for a title shot. I was just looking and bj's last two fights at welterweight he lost to hughes and gsp and then moved down to lightweight. yes i know he is a good fighter and yes will challenge and put up a good fight for the title i was just thinking a fighter should have to establish himself or at leats have a few wins in a row to fight for the title in a specific weight class.

like anderson silva is not getting an instant title shot at lhw he is fighting guys like james irvin and who ever else the ufc is going to throw at him. I personally dont think bj deserves a welterweight title shotand think he should stay in the lw division and fight kenny florian but i just wanted to know what everyone else thought

What does it matter? BJ has been around for awhile and has accomplished a lot of great things. I feel that he deserves it. He is a tough fighter and I cant wait to see this fight.

I also think this fight is really unfair for both WW and LW fighters.

Alves with his win over KOS did deserve a shot more than Penn.

Penn has to defend his title against Kenny that really does deserve his fight.

Overall, I dont know why he's getting the shot, this is another reason why I feel this guy is a Dbag

it's just like the brock situation. dana puts together fights to create the biggest hype and that will sell the most pay per views. Everybody knows that...

There are one of three things behind motivation to do anything...

Music, Money and MMMMM'*****.... which one of the three you decide

i just feel that if bj does win it screws over the ufc having one guy hold two titles, yes its a great accomplishment but then each division goes on hold for so long unless he drops one of his belts. Also like the other guy said its like the brock situation where he has not done much to deserve it. yes i know bj is a legened and has been a champ as ww and lw but as of now i just dont think he deserves to be fighting for the title anywhere outside of lw

BJ gets the title shot because hes the most talented polarizing figure in the lighter weights of MMA. Having him fight the guy who a lot of people believe is hands down the best WW makes for a mega fight that without these 2 guys the UFC couldnt make in its lower weight classes.

Really at the time the fight was being thrown around thinking it would have happened at New Years, do you think the UFC could have put together two good title defenses for either of these cats that could have stacked up to this fight at the time?

Edit: I also understand the fact that people feel some fighters are getting shafted having to wait but isnt the main beauty of this sport seeing two of the best cats in the world compete against eachother? We dont usually get that chance because of weight issues but here we have a situation where both fighters are a weight class apart, both of them are at the peak of their popularity and careers, and both of them want to do it.

Are you gonna feel the same about Anderson Silva when he eventually fights for the belt at 205....Dana has said he's like 2-3 fights away.....he will have earned the shot more but still he would be holding two belts like BJ would....
