UFC and Setanta

Ok, so some of you British fans will no doubt have had signal trouble with Setanta whilst watching UFC via Sky? I know i did at UFC 90. I managed to watch the first 10 seconds of Sherk vs Griffin before i got "no satellite signal being recieved" message for the rest of the night. I was so p!ssed off.

Anyway, for those who get signal break-up on Setanta Sports 1, or no signal at all, try this, its worked for me and the picture NEVER breaks up!

Go to Services on your sky box, then "system setup", then "add channel"

Frequency 11585
Polarisation H

then go to find/add channel

Setanta sports should flash up as one of the options, highlight it and press your yellow button, then press select.

You can now view this channel by going into your Services menu, and selecting other channels.

The only problem is you cant record it or live pause it etc. But it sure beats missing the event.

This wont work for everyone, but if it helps a few, then great

I was gutted, i havent missed a live event since i cant even remember! But this other frequency should work for you, cos i live in Preston and it works great for me.

Its the PPV channel so i'm not 100% sure it wont cut off for UFC, but i cant see any reason why it would.

I'm watching round my mates, I think he's got Virgin and we never usually have a problem with it.

For UFC 86 me and some mates booked a hotel suite, bought an aerial which we hung off the balcony, connected a freeview box which had Setanta and off we go. Spend the start of the night in casinos etc. Had an amazing night then back to the suite to watch UFC. It got to the intro for the Rampage vs Forrest fight and the signal went for the rest of the night. Considering by this mtime it was like 5am I was irate

The problem usually stems from poorly alligned sky dishes. Since setanta operates on one of the highest frequencies (25600Mhz i think) some dishes fail to pick up the signal. However, the PPV channel is broadcast on a much lower frequency (11585Mhz) making the signal easier to obtain. Like i said earlier though, if you have sky+ you cant live pause, or record on that channel.

I would have preferred to have gotten Virgin, as its all fibre optics and copper wires, but i'm not in a cable area

Not 100% certain on this, but i did hear that Setanta broadcasts cease at 5am on freeview. I dont know if it has been rectified, but i know there were ALOT of outraged customers because of that

Does anyone know how to trick a freeview box into giving you Setanta? Just for conversations sake, not that I would do such a thing...

There might be a chip you can purchase, not unlike the ones you could get for xbox's, but other than that i dont think so.
