HW Bracket Question

So I was wondering today:

What happens if a fighter in the UFC (or US for that matter) misses weight at 265? Will the AC still sanction the fight? Will the fight still be contested at HW?

I know at this point Lesnar is likely going to make weight, just more of a hypothetical.

Thanks

Anderson Silva vs. Jon Jones is the best match-up the UFC has ever been able to arrange. Here's to hoping it goes down.

the fight can go ahead if the the guy who makes weight consents but if its a title fight the title will not be contested.

Like what happened with Silva vs Lutter

It's an interesting question, and I don't know the answer.

I doubt it would be the same as any other weight class, where they would just make it a catch-weight if the opponent says it's ok. Maybe they would though... I really don't know.

Fedor fights I want to see..

Fedor vs. Josh Barnett
Fedor vs. Randy Couture
Fedor vs. Tim Sylvia - DEMOLISHED
Fedor vs. Andrei Arlovski - DEMOLISHED

hmmmmm, i wonder how many become reality..

Also, no one in MMA has ever not accepted a fight if a guy doesnt make weight.Because they'd be losing their paycheck

I dont know if the AC would I think it would depend on the size of the fighter that did make weight, I doubt they would allow Randy to fight Brock at 290 but they would probably allow somebody like Velasquez or Carwin do to them being closer in size, it would then be considered either a catch weight or super heavyweight fight I would Imagine.

If the fighter can't make weight at first place wouldnt he get a few extra hours to cut the weight? like what happened to Burkmann at UFC 90.

they'll normally give you either 1 or 2 hours to make weight.

there's next to no chance this will be an issue tho. Lesnar cuts but not a lot by any means.

True dat, Lesnar said he walks into the cage at 290 - 295 so thats only 25-30 pounds or less than Thiago Alves cuts to make WW.

I thought he was walking around at 280/285 and coming in the Octagon at "only" 275/280.
