I'm not saying it's a horrible thing, but how do you properly rank a guy with his record? It's just an interesting situation.

With his win over Randy, I'm with Dontazo: #10 at best. With a win over Nog, I'd put him at #6 or #7... Which is nuts! If anyone else with more wins under their belt, it would undeniably be top 5, maybe top 3 status.

But even if he beats Nog... He will only have defeated two ranked HW's in his entire career.
lol what?

if he beats nog he's #2 in the world bitches

But he hasn't beaten Nog yet, so where do you put him as of today?

It's funny. Back in January these boards were flooded with talk of whether or not Brock even deserved a UFC contract. The majority opinion then was NO. Now here we are less than a year later arguing over his ranking and talking about his impending fight with Nog! HAHAHAHA!

To answer your point, show me your top 10 list where Brock isn't on it and we can talk from there.

Once again, I'm not attacking Lesnar.

But if an entire career span is taken into account with ranking, how can you put a guy with so slim of a career so high in the rankings?

IF he beats Nog (which is very possible, he had a hard time with Sapp), he will have only fought two top 10 guys in his entire career and will be #2 behind a guy that has fought and defeated almost the entire top 10?

I think it's a unique situation and Brock shows a ton of potential. But to just assume he's number 2 because he may have matched up well against two of the top three and lost against Mir. We just assume he could take Sylvia, Barnett, Arlovski, Werdum, and Gonzaga? Or that he's better in general? He hasn't been tested like Randy or Nog. He may just match-up well with them.

In all fairness it's not like Brock climbed the ladder to get where he is. He lost to Mir, beat a not even top 10 fighter in Herring, and found himself fighting a 45 year old fighter that weighed 60 pounds less than him, gave up a reach advantage and hadn't fought in over a year for the title.

I'm not Brock bashing. I'm intrigued by his potential, but facts are facts.

#1 Fedor
#2 Nog
#3 Barnett
#4 Couture
#5 Arlovski
#6 Sylvia
#7 Gonzaga
#8 Mir
#9 Werdum
#10 Lesnar

Let's talk. I already said, I would put Lesnar at 10. But he hasn't accomplished nearly as much as anyone else in that list.

Rankings aren't based on who you can beat, but how you beat. Lesnar is now number 8 or so, and a win over Nog puts him at 2.

Hell theres a lot of guys that can beat him, I even think the Undertaker can beat him (before you neg me let me say Taker is a BJJ purple belt and boxed for many years, Lesar won't have a size advantage either so I think it's a fair claim). But he is still number 8 ATM

But its difficult to defend that ranking when he just beat your #4 convincingly, who was the guy that beat your #6 and #7.

I think you need to suck it up, give him his high ranking, and see if he can defend it.

I dont think a career dictates your ranking, but how easily you stay in the top 10. Despite his recent losses, Sylvia is still top 10 because of his career. Whereas if Brock lost a couple back to back....he'd drop out of the top 10 quicker than shit.

At least on a provisional basis. A win against Nog/Mir cements his title and his ranking (improve it even), a loss loses him his belt and his top 10 ranking.

I agree with Flak.......I think Brock needs a win over Nog/Mir to shore up his reputation let alone his rank..alot of people want to know why he got a shot ths early and why guys like Werdum, or Kongo werent offered a shot at the title first.......
