It sucks that Cote got injured, but he did nothing in that fight to warrant a rematch. Outlasting Silva's previous opponents does not mean anything because Cote really did nothing. The argument Silva didn't either doesn't matter because Silva is the champ.

That said Cote is off to long, not being able to train 6 months, that means at least 8 before he can fight and Anderson cant be his first fight back so we are looking at 1 year from the last fight before we would see a rematch at least.
Even more convinced the second time even tho cote didn't land anything of interest except for some leg kicks in the first fight?
Cote did nothing in the fight, he just tried to survive til the 3rd round and then says after the fight, "Hey I made it to the 3rd, no one else has done that with him in the ufc."

Who cares he lost and he was losing every round before he got hurt.

If Cote's plan was to counter silva's aggressiveness instead of being the aggressor than I'd give him a pass. Unfortunately for the fans that was not the case because Cote's whole game plan relied on him being able to survive long enough to land a big right (which he never connected with by the way).

So basically in your opinion he used the same strategy implemented by the most dominant LHW in UFC history?

I think you should hug Silva's nuts a little closer because Silva wasnt ever aggressive, Silva would go in throw one combo and get the **** out of dodge as soon as Cote started firing back Silva is NEVER aggressive and I dont know where people get that stupid idea from,

Cote lost, so he should have to re-work his way back up. I seriously don't give 2 shits about a rematch. Hell, I didn't give 2 shits about their first fight.

I saw absolutely no signs of Silva being scared of Cote and if this fight happend again, Silva would still win. There is a difference between being evasive and being frightened.

And what of interest did Anderson land? one knee that never even phased Cote, this bullshit where the champ isnt held to the same standard is ludicrous, the fact is both guys wanted the other to be the agressor and eventually somebody was going to go down and Id had my money on it being Anderson and I still stand by that.

Honestly this is the problem
they need to give Cote a fight with somebody like Franklin upon his return so garner the fan interest, even though I think Cote will destroy Franklin and I think Almedia was a much harder fight for Cote in the eyes of many fans Cote had never cemented himself as a contender, I dont think Cote should have to work his way back up but I think it would be a huge mistake to give him an instant rematch, for one the fans need to be given a reason to believe in him and secondly Cote is had some pretty serious knee surgury and may really lose a step upon his return.

I would much rather see cote/franklin than Cote/silva II. That would be an amazing fight.

Of anyone Silva has fought that deserves another shot, it would be Lutter. He had Silva in more trouble than anyone else. When Silva loses, it'll be on the ground.(I know he's good at that too)
