I was on The Official Website of UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes the other day and I came upon this quote from Matt Hughes...

"I hope Rich wins, but if Anderson wins I would consider bumping up to 185 and fighting him"

What is Matt Hughes Thinking by saying something like that?!?...Honestly I think he would get destroy by Anderson Silva...Am I the only one????

im sure many people will agree with you but im not one of them, it would be a very good fight which i think matt hughes would win. he's not dumb enough to think he can stand with a. silva like rich did. he would take him down and do some classic g and p while looking for a submission. there is always a chance he could get caught and be knocked out but i think he would win that fight 70% of the time but thats just my opinion.

All I can say is that it will never happen in a million years. I think Matt is too comfortable in the welterweight division! I don't see him leaving the comfort zone anytime soon.

I'd like to know what inspired Hughes to say this. Was it a lack of confidence for Franklin? Or was it overconfidence? Maybe he thought there was no way Franklin would lose, so he wouldn't ever have to keep to his word and move up for Anderson. Who knows.

Well, Franklin lost. What are you going to do, country boy? Although I don't like Hughes' chances against Anderson, I'd still much like to see it.

However, Hughes should be more concerned with defending his own belt. There are a lot of hungry young talent out there after it. So this fight will likely never happen.

It could potentially happen when he or Silva lose their belts......completely contrasting styles, not always a good thing

Keep what word? Or are you one of the people that don't understand what was said.......he said he would consider it. He did not say he would move up. He is the WW champ.....No reason to move anywhere. I don't understand what word he was supposed to keep.
