Why do most people think..

Lesnar is just going to learn enough submission defense this quick to not get submitted by Nogueira/Mir or anyone who is a BJJ wizard. People are like "Lesnar will beat Nog/Mir as long as he learns some submission defense". Its just that easy, isnt it? Train for a couple months and suddenly you can defend every submission and transition? Lesnar could train for years at submission defense and he still wouldnt be able to handle a submission specialists mind set like Nogueira, Mir or even Fedor. They are so far ahead of him, its not even funny. Im sure Lesnar could defend one or two but Nogueira always has a back up that will catch anyone. Not to mention his transitions from submission to submission are pretty much impossible to see coming.

Depending on who wins the Mir/Nogueira fight, if Nogueira wins and fights Lesnar, I see him getting submitted by anaconda choke. Mir already beat him with a kneebar so im not sure know how the second fight would go down.

Didn't you know that he beat Randy? He's instantly surpassed Fedor now and any day God is going to step down and give Lesnar control of Heaven.

brock could be the longest hw champ ever deal with it or dont watch

Randy has a ton of experience losing. lol When people said Randy has a lot of experience, they meant hes been there, done that, fought the best guys. Or wrestling experience(like that made a big difference).

All I was asking was why everyone thinks its so easy for someone to learn enough submission defense to not get caught in a submission by Nog/Mir. Half the guys they submit dont even see the submissions coming until they are already in one and guys like Brock are dumb and right step into one.

It's because Lesnar is improving at a scary pace. The guy has been thrown to the wolves and has done really well.

Now, do I think he'd beat Mir if they were to rematch? Yes, because Mir isn't that good of a fighter, and I don't think Brock would make the same mistake he did last time.

He won't, however, beat Nogueira. Nog's still a great fighter and will tap Brock when they face each other. Nogueira has more ways to win, and will be there till the very end.

because everytime we see brock he shows us something(s) new....

against Herring he showed patience and positioning as well as a monsterous right hand....and against Couture he showed some really awesome knee's in the clinch...he beat randy in the clinch area which is where couture was supposed to beat the piss out of lesnar....his striking is coming along as well...his power is crazy and his technique is improving....

maybe submission defense won't even come into play? i know he can outstrike Mir and his reach and power will be too much for Nog standing IMO

bob sapp who isn't 1/2 as skilled as lesnar on the ground still survived a long time on top of big nog without getting submitted....and lesnar is training w/ Comprido, 7x bjj world champion....

toxic will probably come and say that bjj defense is easier to learn than offense...and i'd agree...look at tyson griffin against marcus aurelio....

I don't think he will be able to learn sub defense in that time. That being said if for some reason Mir does get by Nog i don't think he will have the boxing/wrestling to catch Lesnar in a sub real easy like alst time. Good chance lesnar with the experience he has now could just overwelm mir. Nog is another story, and will sub brock in rd 2

Because submission defense is a hell of alot easier to learn then learnign how to use submissions, Lesnar has shown an unseen rate of improvement and he has the advantage of knowing thats what he has to work at, it doesnt even matter if its Mir or Nog Lesnars preparation is largely the same, my concern with Lesnar facign Nog is that Nog never stops, nog can take a hell of a beating and if Lesnar cant stop Nog then Lesnar is forced to try and fend of the submission attempts for 5 rounds which is gonna be alot harder, Mir is the easier fight for Lesnar because of the fact it will be easier to finish Mir at least looking at past fights Nog has the record of being more durable. I think Lesnar will give Nog troubles because Nog has had trouble against bigger guys, Sapp, Sylvia and Rodriguez all gave Nog trouble and Lesnar is bigger and stronger than Rofriguez or Sylvia and much more skilled than Sapp, I dont think Lesnar beating Nog is inconceivable.

I'm going to take this and just agree.

He could beat Mir, and Mir is getting overrated a lot lately..

and big Nog would crush him.

lesnars muay thai is really improving ... elbow that buckled randy was executed so well ...

smooth810 11-24-2008 08:53 PM

I break it down like this..Your not going to choke lesner out...You just can't get your arm's in there..the man is too big and strong...A triangle, he'll slam you through the floor.. Only an armbar or heel hook/ leg bar is possible..imo
