Damn, this is brutal! I'm actually glad the UFC has cleaned up it's rules since the 1st UFC, having 2 rules in a professional fight seems a bit too lenient. I wonder if the rankings would be that different if all of these rules were still allowed.

They should set up Keith Hackney vs Randy at UFC 100.

those entry forms are crazy.. i cannot begin to imagine the balls it would of taken to go into one of them matches.

bare knuckle, no rules fighting is absolutely hectic. especially back when there was no real "mma"..

Shogun is my homeboy.

i cant believe they didnt include groin shots in the stuff not allowed.. i understand its 'as real as it gets'.. but..

Bring back knees strikes on grounded opponents.. Give me good arguments for not having them for crying out loud.

According to wiki it was banned at UFC 14 (1997).

In response to the criticism, the UFC increased its cooperation with state athletic commissions and redesigned its rules to remove the less palatable elements of fights while retaining the core elements of striking and grappling. Weight classes were introduced at UFC 12; gloves became mandatory and kicks to a downed opponent, hair pulling, fish hooking, headbutting, and groin strikes were banned at UFC 14. UFC 15 saw more limitations on permissible striking areas: strikes to the back of the neck and head, and small joint manipulations were banned. With five-minute rounds introduced at UFC 21, the UFC gradually re-branded itself as a sport rather than a spectacle.

You know I can't recall much groin hits in the early UFC but someone was telling me about a match they saw where a guy had a guy down and punched him in the groin like 10 times. Does anybody know what match that may of been?

And I can't believe they didn't ban that till UFC 14.
