I know man that shit annoys the hell out of me. Nick does it just as much. I think they would rather not gas themselves out with punches and instead save their energy for weathering the storm and sinking in a sub later on. Seems like it to me anyway, cuz Nick is a good boxer, and Nate's not too bad either.

Anderson Silva doesn't lack wrestling. And to be fair, Anderson Silva's strength (Muay Thai) is much better than Nate's strength (BJJ). Nate doesn't have good defensive striking and lacks takedowns. If he doesn't fix at least one of these weaknesses, I don't see him becoming a top 5 LW.

couldnt agree more

Anderson's weakness in wrestling isnt a big deal because he's the best striker in his division
Nate is far from that

I'm not saying Anderson has no wrestling skills whatsoever but it's definately not even close to what makes him #1 in the world. I know Anderson's strength is better than Nate's right now that is obvious but Anderson is in his prime and has a good 10-15 years of experience on Nate.

What I am saying is that Nate is young, takes the game seriously, trains hard, learns fast, and has a great team behind him. All I said is Nate has the POTENTIAL to one day become #1 in his weight class, and I even made it clear that he needs to improve on some things first. I don't know why people are getting so defensive about this. It's not like he sucks.

He's got a lot of potential I just see a lot of guys in his division with more potential.

And in the LW division you need wrestling.

At MW Anderson isn't facing guys who are all american wrestlers (outside of Henderson who is also an idiot).

The LW division is full of D-1 wrestlers with good stand up that just keeps improving.

Your wording was: "You don't really NEED wrestling to be the best in your wieght class, especially when you are badass off your back. Look at Anderson Silva". I understood this to mean that Anderson Silva does not have wrestling. If that's not what you meant, then okay.

Anderson has the best striking in the MW division. I don't think we'll ever be able to say Nate has the best BJJ in the LW division.

I won't deny that he has potential, but I don't think he'll ever be number one in a weight class as stacked as LW. I hope he learns from his brother's mistake, and realizes taking copious amounts of punches to the face doesn't count as striking defense.

Not getting defensive, just stating my opinion on where I think he stands in the division. That's what the thread is about.

Hendo tried to take Anderson Silva down in the second round on more than one occasion. He just couldn't do it.

I dont see nate ever becoming number 1 or top 5 for that matter. I dont think his work ethic will ever be good enough and i just dont see an amazing amount of potential in him. I can see him loosing alot of fights right now. In 10 years he might not even be around anymore.

I don't want to take this too off topic, so I think we're gonna have to leave this alone or take it to a new thread.
