In the cases of MMA or Boxing, title defenses are a huge factor to consider. As of right now, GSP does not have that legacy. I'm not denying that GSP is more talented than Hughes was in his prime, but unitl GSP has more successful title defenses and legendary fights as Matt Hughes, I will not consider GSP the Greatest Welterweight of all time. Maybe the most talented, but not the greatest at this time.

Yes he had the greatest run as WW champion. But that doesnt make him the greatest WW of all time. GSP right now would beat the Matt Hughes of 2005 10/10 times. Therefore he isnt the greatest WW of all time. The answer to that question is GSP.

id disagree with that matt hughes in 2005 was great and in 2004 and so on....like many said the sport has evolved but still disagree with that statement

The only claim you can really make that matt hughes in his prime could beat GSP is if hughes's wrestling was better than GSP's. Which, while very good, was never at Pierre's level. GSp vs hughes in 2005 would still heavily favor GSP>
