He wasn't that hurt in the Hughes fight by Hughes, he was pinned underneath him and was unable to defend himself. Bigggggggggggg difference.

Basically he wont jab himself to victory against GSP like he did against Sherk, because of similiar'ish reach. Overall GSP's stand up is much smoother and versatile than Penn's, which combined with his awesome conditioning will make a difference like Terror Kovenant mentioned. I still think wrestling will play a bigger role than stand up on this fight, but I wouldn't hesitate to bet my money on GSP if it was only a kick boxing fight too.
I've seen him fight a lot more then just those fights and his stand up is FAR better then you are giving it credit for.

GSP lacks the speed and power that BJ has. BJ was winning the stand up in their first fight.

If this was just a kick boxing match, BJ has it all day long.

I dont recall BJ getting dropped by Serra, but it was a long time ago. . .

And against Hughes he was in the salaverry position getting bombed with elbows, and he just looked tired and frustrated. He had nothing left in the tank at one point in that fight, and Hughes was catching him for fun on the feet. Granted Hughes is renowned for his lack of punching power, but BJ just stood there and took them with no energy left at all.

IF GSP knocks BJ out, i'll eat all my body hair

First couple of times I think he will be stuffed, but eventually GSP will get him down.

I think BJ will both be taken down and gas but not be taken down because he's gassed. I see GSP shooting hard all fight and you can't defend that forever.

BJ has never gone to the later rounds at WW and not gassed. He put on weight for this fight and is going to have to keep pace with a cardio machine. BJ's working hard and improving his cardio but don't for a second start thinking he's got GSPesque cardio...

GSP can take down anyone in an mma fight. BJ will be able to stuff some of his shots especially if he gets a single but if GSP can get deep on both of his legs or right to his hips he will put him down just like he does with everyone else. Like people have mentioned before though its about whether he wants him there or if it is even a good idea. Another question would be if BJ can take GSP down or sweep him? I think BJ could definately win this fight if he is able to get top position.

I can see GSP getting BJ down. However I would not say at will. GSP is going to have to work his ass off to get BJ down. I always remember seeing a clip, I can't remember what fight it was, but BJ's leg is being held all the way up in the air, almost the splits and he is hopping around.
BJ's balance is excellent. GSP has great power and explosiveness though, so if he slams BJ or gets him down, I would not be suprised. I just don't see that happening the entire fight.

I'm 100% sure that GSP has a major edge on TD and TD defence. I see GSP taking BJ to the ground when he will feel insecure standing up.

While that may be true, BJ has never really been caught on the button. That's a testament to his ability as a striker, but at the same time, it doesn't indicate that his "chin" is strong. I put quotations around chin because there's more than one point on the head which if hit hard enough can cause an individual to be momentarily dazed/knocked unconscious.

not to mention it's not like his fight history is a list of KO artists... I'm not implying that GSP is one either. I don't see this ending by a (T)KO either way.
