Griffin-Bonnar I was important because it helped launch MMA into the American mainstream.
But Taktarov-Abbott was also a big deal, because it showed that skill really can beat brute force. Also, it was the first truly epic UFC fight.

I agree, although I think the impact is going to be muted by the global economic chaos...

Edit: Tank Abotts first UFC fight was pretty attention grabbing as well. I remmember thinking in the UFCs infancy that the sport was going to be relligated to slow paced ground battles and probably not succeed commercially. Tank changed that idea in a hurry. His next fight againt Paul Varlains was equally eye opening and impressive, even though it led to a few rule changes haha, og Tank was the man.

I have to say that Tito vs Ken brought a lot of people into the sport. I think the slugfest that Griffen and Bonnar had as one of the first mma events on free TV propelled the sport forward.

Nice one, I wouldn't have though of that. That fight was the first one that really helped people to see that these TUF fighters were legitimate.

Paul "relentless" Taylor vs Chris Lytle was a good key fight for new British MMA fans who have just only started watching.

Stefan Struve
Donald Cerrone
Glover Texiera
Cub Swanson
Kim Dong - Hyun.
