How does Alves do against BJ and GSP ?
Since it's a certainty that the winner will fight Thiago next.
Personally, I think Alves has a pretty decent shot at beating BJ but most people seem to disagree with me.
So, how do the fights go if it's Penn/Alves or GSP/Alves ?

I would say he has a better chance of beating Penn than George. Penn stood 5 rounds with sherk if he does that against thiago than lights out

I think he has a good shot at both of them. I think he would have a better shot at GSP because GSP is more easily KOed and BJ has a better chance lasting with Alves cuz of his chin, and because if it goes to the ground Penn would prolly show him whats up. But he would be huge compared to BJ so I dunno.

i think he'd be the favourite against Penn....bigger, stronger, better and more versatile striker, take down defense that should scary everyone....not to mention very good cardio
against gsp he'd be a slight underdog, cuz people seem to think gsp's td's are godlike...he's better standing than gsp, from the outside and inside...one of the few guys that has a very distinct advantage over gsp...

I think Alves would be a challenge for both St.-Pierre and Penn.
Since he's a very dangerous striker, I guess both guys would like to take him down sooner or later, and since GSP has better takedowns (and Alves is difficult to take down), and also has better cardio (while Alves might gas with his Belgian Blue frame), I think he would be the more likely to beat Alves.
However, if Alves was to win both of them, I think he would be more likely to finish GSP than to finish Penn.

GSP takes him down and either wins a UD or a late TKO. Because it's been so long since BJ has fought at LW, and we don't know if he'll have better cario or not, it's pretty hard to make a prediction on an Alves-BJ fight, just like it's hard to make a prediction on the upcoming BJ-GSP fight. Alves would probably be too big for him, but I don't know.

Penn only stood for 3 rounds before finishing Sherk... and although Thiago has great standup i'm not sure he'd be the one to KO Penn.... Penn's chin has been tested time and again, even at lhw he wasn't ever KOed

I think he would stand a better chance of beating BJ than he would of beating GSP. However I have been overwhelmingly suprised by Alves last few performances and I think a fight with GSP would be very competitive and he would stand a great chance of winning.
