Dana White: Machida is Anderson's Successor

Quote:
It may well be Lyoto Machida who will be the next fighter to hold the pound for pound king tag reveals Dana White in an recent interview with Brazilian MMA TV show Sensei SporTV.

Free Fight Videos translates Dana White’s exclusive interview with Sensei SporTV via Tatame Brazil.

Dana White: Machida is Anderson's Successor

After the stunning revelation on Sensei SporTV from Anderson Silva that he could retire soon and following an exclusive interview with UFC heavyweight champion Rodrigo "Minotauro", Sensei SporTV has its biggest guest yet.

Reporter Fernando Kallas showed no signs of intimidation when he met the most powerful promoter in MMA today. There were no questions left unanswered. On Saturday 06 December Dana White once again proclaims Anderson Silva to be the best pound for pound fighter in the world. No matter what combat sport or division. He isn’t surprised with the possible retirement of Silva after all “Anderson Silva is rich! I’d also retire if I was him”, said Dana in jest. Though he doesn’t actually believe Anderson will retire any time soon . If it does happen, the president believes Lyoto Machida will become the 'The Spiders“ successor.

"Machida has everything to be the next best pound for pound top fighter in MMA" said White.

In the exclusive interview, Dana White talks about a possible UFC event and talks about the mega card at Ultimate 100. He also address the possibility of having Fedor inside the Octagon. He address how he transformed the sport and its image in popular culture. In tenth episode of Sensei SporTV watch Dana White this Saturday following the Sportv News.
I don't doubt it. I hope this means a title shot if he beats Thiago.

I think Machida (after Anderson and GSP, at this moment) is the best fighter in the UFC, but then again I'm biased.

Bout time he shows respect to Machida, i thought he was gonna give him the royal shaft. I'm biased so i have Lyoto in the top p4p in the world, and truly believe that he could go undefeated in the LHW division, but i really reeally really wanna see him tested against the top top guys. Truth be told i dont think Thiago is much of a test for Machida, i wanna see him fight Rampage or Shogun because they are at the cream of the crop, so it should be good.

Machida is great, but he's not there yet.
Sounds like Dana pandering to a Brazilian audience to me.

Sounds more like 2 of the top p4p guys are from Brazil.

Who do you guys think would win a match between Silva and Machida, even though it would never happen.

Now personally I don't think Anderson is p4p #1 but that's a different discussion.

Lyoto is never going to be a popular fighter and never be looked at the way Anderson is.

He just doesn't come off in the same way.

Lyoto has a long way to go in his fighting career before he is near the top of the P4P list.

I mean Lyoto has done a solid amount but Tito, Sokky, and Naka aren't enough to even get you on the top 10 P4P.

he has beaten other top fighters such as Franklin and BJ Penn, but i do agree that he doesn't deserve to be in top 10 p4p yet.

Favourite Fighters:

Dan 'The Outlaw' Hardy
Anderson 'The Spider' Silva
Renato 'Babalu' Sobral
Michael 'The Count' Bisping
Thiago 'The Pitbull' Alves
Kenny 'Kenflo' Florian
Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson

Him beating BJ Penn means nothing. And his win over Franklin is nice but it still doesn't put him in top 10 P4P like you said.
