Isn't Vinny a world champ in BJJ?

Blah blah, MMA grappling etc....i think the guy is cool as heck on the ground. A little googling uncovered that he submitted Drysdale in a competition not long ago.

Considering how big he is, i think if he can develop some hands and get used to being hit....you're gonna have one very good MMA fighter.

Demian Maia may be the Fred Astaire of jiu-jitsu, but it’s too bad Silva is the Gene Kelly of kicking everyone’s ass.

Also whats with this thought that no one has BJJ at LHW?

Shogun, Thiago, and Forrest are all very good grapplers.

Vinny isn't a good MMA fighter he has a 2-2 record for a reason. I like him and think he has a bright future but this guy is overrated right now.

To Junie the guy needs to start owning up to things but supposedly he's doing well living with Tompkins so hopefully that works well.
I think your underestimating Vinny's grappling. I forget what sight it was but it ranked the top grapplers in the world. There were Jacare, Maia, Drysdale, were all on the list but werent ranked #1. Ranked #1 was Xande Ribiero. I heard of him and his crazy skills but never got around to actually watch him in competition. So I googled him to watch some of his matches. One of them was against Vinny. Lets just say it didnt last longer then 2 minutes and Vinny looked very very impressive.

If your thinking maybe those rankings were garbage. Here is a link of Ribiero vs Gonzaga. Complete ownage!!

I happen to think Vinny is better than Drysdale and maybe even Maia when it comes to no gi grappling. With a gi Maia is amazing!

Vinny is the most talented fighter I have ever seen coming out of tough. I dont know if he will win a title or not. But based on pure talent the kid is amazing! He is only 23 too, this kid is going to be dangerous.

He's a world champion at Brown Belt. And he's a damn good grappler but I mean let's see him submit a legit LHW fighter.

He's 2-2 people and he hasn't fought anyone that good.

Vinny is a fantastic grappler but he's not Maia or Jacare. And while his credentials are fantastic lets see him sub a real MMA grappler he's very skilled but he isn't this unstoppable grappler.

No, his jits is the best at 205, period.

Demian Maia may be the Fred Astaire of jiu-jitsu, but it’s too bad Silva is the Gene Kelly of kicking everyone’s ass.

Look I love BJJ guys as much if not more then anyone. And I jump on the prospect bandwagons all the time but calm down.

He is 2-2 and that matters because he's not a legit MMA fighter yet and who has he subbed that is all that impressive?

In fact while he is good I don't think he would do all that well on the ground with any of the better grapplers at LHW. He has to show he can take a punch from someone with submission defense.

Too bad I don't care to ever see him again. Win or lose I have zero interest in watching him fight at all.

He subbed Krystov. Remember what Krystov said......"I've got jui-jitsu too". Since Krystov says he has jui-jitsu Vinnys skills are pretty irrefutable now.

A submission is a submission, just because it's not fancy doesn't make it irrelevant. And to answer your question, probably Machida at UFC 79 with the arm-triangle choke, although I'm certain there was a more recent one.

You can "blah-blah" MMA grappling all you want, but there is a drastic distinction between the two. I really don't think I should have to talk about Roan Carneiro's fight Kevin Burns to illustrate my point.

Vinny has potential, but to be frank, he's done for on the feet against almost anyone at 205.

Where did all this come from? I mean the guy subs a ok fighter in Krystof who was 3-3 in the IFL and now he's the greatest submission guy ever?

He's good at BJJ no doubt. But he's a horrible MMA fighter.

He has potential but he can't strike and he doesn't like to be hit.
