It's a shame that Serra was forced to fight GSP back-to-back like he did. GSP is a caliber above nearly every other WW fighting, and Serra had to fight him twice in a row, w/ no reprieve or chance to grow.

Meanwhile, GSP was able to hone his wrestling skills against Kos and Hughes before fighting Serra again.

Not that Serra would have won, mind you, just that he was at a a severe disadvantage in that second fight, far greater than if he had fought two fights against tough opponents, and then fought GSP for the rematch.

As for Serra fighting again, he at least had Hughes, and would love to see him in a rematch against Shonie; they're both past their prime, and I think it would be a great way to send both out to pasture in the UFC.

You two are funny lol. If that match is in april which we have all established it is then it probably will be co main event with the Lesnar vs Nog/Mir fight or something cuz that is a fight that should happen in either april or may for sure so... Any I agree that there is no such thing as luck but I also dont think Serra would ever beat GSP again.

Nor will he need to, because that win gave him years and years worth of name recognition. I'm still skeptical that there's really going to be another fight with Hughes.

I dont think he'd beat GSP again either
but that doesnt make his first win a fluke or a lucky punch

he was a better fighter that night and won because of it

I agree with that. I dont believe in luck at all. I was just thinkin I hope I am right about that card I was sayin was a possibility. A card with Serra vs Hughes followed by Nog/Mir vs Lesnar for the unification of the HW title would be a big card.

Serra belongs at LW.
How ridiculous would it look to see Serra fighting a guy like Anthony Johnson! Picture that height/size difference!
He already looked like a dwarf against GSP.

Point I am getting at is that I think Serra would be more suited for LW. He would be at a huge disadvantage with reach, weight and likely strength.
I don't know how accurate the part about him having trouble cutting to 155 is - I mean Diego is gonna do it, BJ Penn does it, Sherk does it and all those guys are bigger than Serra.

serra likes lasagna and ice cream too much to fight a LW. But really, what's he gonna do at LW either? Is he gonna beat sherk, florian, or BJ, or even
Clay guida?

no
hes definitely not going to be a contender at LW
i don't see that happening

I do think he has a few fights left and there are some good matches for him at LW

I'd love to see him fight Aurelio, Kurt Pellegrino, Joe Stevenson

I think he can do well in a few fights
