matt serra

i actually like serra. i know he's not the best fighter. but i like his attitude and how he seems always happy etc.He hasn't fought for atleast 10 months or so. Do you think he will be back soon? Do you think he can ever be a contender for lw or ww? Or do you think his ufc days are numbered? If the hughes fight happens, It be good if he could pull the upset again. I watched ufc 82 again last night. I respected how he lasted quite a while getting beaten by gsp. Also I respect that he went to gsp's home state. I found it funny how gsp said he'd fight him in ny. Thats only because he knows he could destroy him again. hehe
your thoughts on matt serra and the future?

Well, he is 34 years old so I think he's got a few fights left in him. He'll never win the title again but I'd like to see Serra/Hughes. He could maybe fight Karo Parysian again.

I think he would be a badass if he would cut to lw. Could you imagine Serra and Sanchez both in the lw div.

i don't think he'll do well at lw at all....that division is full of wrestlers and serra's offensive submission game in mma isn't good at all

Serra is a total can, gimme one good win besides the GSP fluke (no, footstomping chris lyttle to a decision does not count).

What serra is good at is selling himself, he's a really funny guy. That TUF show he was on totally resurected his career. At the same time, do you think anybody would be talking about matt serra right now if he hadn't been on that show?

I bet beat up old Matt Hughes destroys him in a New York minute.

Serra's a legit fighter but he's not a championship level guy.

He could hang in both the WW or LW division but he won't make a title run in either.

At LW there are too many wrestlers with very good submission defense but he could be an even better gatekeeper the Pellegrino is.

At WW he can be a gatekeeper as well he's skilled on the ground although he won't sub man guys and standing he has power.

Serra isn't a can.

No his BJJ is nowhere near Maia or Palhares although Palhares is nowhere near Maia either.

Serra is a very good black belt with solid submission and very good control. But he's not a crazy submission wizard however he has name power which should keep him from being cut.

MMA Warrior has a little shameless behaviour in the past
I think hes said before he'd hate to drop down to 155' because he was always so drained and couldn't fight effectively when he fought there previously.

Its interesting, hes not an amazing fighter but he has held the title. Id like to see him stick around and do well. Most of all I wanna see him smash Matt Hughes
