I was wondering when Rich was going to speak ... kind of interesting ... sounds really plausible about what happened ... he just thought he was going to be stronger and able to handle the clinch, so that's pretty much what he said after the fight. He said he felt like a "deer in the headlights" once his game plan started falling apart and the more he struggled the worse it went.

Awful how he described the stuff with his nose ... septum (?) was entirely pushed to one side, broken in several places. Had to breathe through his mouth for like a week and couldn't sleep

So now he's taking time off, working on a new place that him and his wife bought out in Ohio ... eating junk food, taking time off. He described just sitting in his hotel room staring out the window for hours .. "first couple days were tough". At least he says the loss will motivate him, and said he is very driven, upset about the sub-par performance but ready to come back stronger than ever.

A couple of other interesting things ... he said he didn't think he was big enough to survive at 205 lbs and that middleweight was his home and he plans to stay there. So all the speculation about him moving up seems done.

Also, he said that he was happy with his UFC contract even though the interviewers were talking about how low he was being paid ... I still say UFC rips off their fighters

I think if Rich really was sick, he probably would have at least hinted at it. He just got beat as badly as he did because he had a bad game plan, simple as that. Anderson is a very talented fighter and probably even with a good game plan Rich would have trouble putting him away. I don't see Rich being champ again as long as Anderson is in the picture ... I think that loss did a lot more to him emotionally than he is able to completely recover from. If they fight again I feel he will be far more tenative and scared than he needs to be. It's unfortunate that it was so one sided because I think that hurts fighters far more than decision losses .. I suppose that's obvious

There have only been three guy's in UFC history to hold a World Title twice and two of those are Militech guy's (Matt Hughes being the other).

I think Tim wins many of his fights because he is just so much bigger than the other guy ... I'm not saying he doesn't work hard or deserve a lot of his successes, I just don't feel Tim is in the elite like Hughes

It's a shame too, Rich is my favorite middleweight in the UFC, too bad he has a piss poor fanbase.
Well, I think a lot of fans are just calling it as they see it .. Rich did come in with a bad game plan and admitted he was like a "deer in the headlights". That is going to get some criticism, the fight wasn't even remotely close and Rich looked like an amateur. People were hard on him after his loss but he is a professional athlete and fans are evaluating his skills ... let's face it, he got owned that night.

ya i can't stand BJ. I hate when he says stuff like "I know i'm the best, and i'm ganna be the best in the lightweight, welterweight, and middle weight division." He's a good fighter just based on his raw talent and skill, but I can't stand him cuz he makes an excuse every time he loses, and his bark is worse than his bite. Loud as a motor bike but wouldn't bust a grape in a food fight.

I also think Franklin will climb back to the top of the MW division..... I'd love to see him fight leben for his first fight back!

I told you guys this in the "franklin was unwell" post.

Franklins an "American Fighter" just like his label says, he fights and doesn't want excuses.

Hell he might have been sick even if he says he wasn't if the UFC really put that much preasure on him. But its doubtful.

I also mentioned on the "whats next for franklin" thread he'd be probably on the march/april card which im about 90% sure still he would be.

PS sorry if im comming off a little angry, im in my last class and after this i get to cut 12 pounds for my fight tomorrow night (weight ins are at 5 so i got about 5 hours to cut it) shouldn't be hard but cutting weight=no fun.

What is it that is going to be on your mind when you're on your death bed? Will it be the tedious years of 9 to 5, or the memory of some great acheivement. Maybe a moment you stood in glory to the applause of millions.

Yeah I made a thread about this on two days ago asking if anyone heard the interview, but nobody responded. I'm glad he said the truth and that it wasn't cause he was sick
