Should Anderson abandon the MW division totally?
Title says it all. I love Anderson and think hes exciting to watch, but it seems like ever since he took the title the MW division has just been stagnant.
Its hard to create new stars in the division when anytime a talented dude comes at him he just makes him look stupid. I feel he casts to large a shadow over the division and there arnt really any match ups for him that could sell well in the near or semi distance future. Him leaving the division would allow other guys to really compete and grow in it, right now all the focus in the division is on Anderson.
Personally I would just like Anderson to move to 205, theirs huge fights for him at that weight that could easily move ppv's. Heres pretty much his possible matches with contenders at MW right now; Bisping, Maia, Marquardt 2, and Thales. Other then the Bisping fight really only fights that hardcore fans would be interested in seeing. Now imagine fights with contenders at LHW; Wanderlei, Rampage, Chuck, Randy(if he moves down), and Jardine. Theirs even fights he could pick up against guys like Cane and Vera that would get more attention then the majority of fights at MW.
With his recent talk of retirement, everyone needs to realize that the big money fights are at 205. Wasting time jumping back from weight to weight is stupid and pointless at this point in his career. So please Anderson and Dana, make the right decision for the MW division, yes it rhymed......
