Is Sherk the Rich Franklin equivelant at 155?

What do you guys think, i personally feel he would beat florian if they fought again and dont see any 155'er with the exception of Penn beating him. Dont get me wrong there is alot of talent at 155 but i feel at the moment Sherk is too strong for them. I would like to the see a rematch between him and Florian but i again feel he would take this. With regards to all the other guys i cant see one fighter who Sherk couldn't just take down and beat them

I dont think he could. Rich has fought great ground guys before with Lutter having him in a really deep submission and he get out and gave him a beating, also what he did to Jason MacDonald. I know there ground game isnt as good as Maia's but for him ground game to be affective he has to get him there without taking shots and i believe Franklin would beat him

I would have to agree. as impressive as maia has shown on the ground, we have yet to see his standup, whereas we know franklin is a world class striker. Franklin also has good takedown defense and he is too smart to try to take it to the ground (ala quarry). I think Maia has a lot of potential, but until he shows he can survive against a good striker ( example bisping), I have to put my money on the former middle weight champ as well.

I think they are similar but not in the way you put.

I think Sean Sherk and Franklin are similar in that they can beat good fighters even very good fighters but neither of them have ever been able to beat a great fighter.

I actually think Rich can beat almost every middleweight not named Anderson Silva. He'll have trouble with Henderson and Lindland but I can still see him getting the W.

Agreed.

I don't think Maia would beat him, as previously suggested. But with Sherk, I can see a few guys beating at LW. With Franklin, I see Rich winning against just about everyone outside of Anderson Silva.

Rich has destroyed just as many contenders (5 each) at 185 in the ufc as A.Silva. If A.Silva didn't get signed to the UFC he'd currently be the most dominant MW in UFC history. Having a single fighter you are unable to defeat isn't an uncommon problem for the greats of MMA. Franklin's just happens to be at the top of his divisions.

He has this glaring weakness in his inability to defend a good thai clinch which is frustrating as hell to me as a fan of his.

Franklin came close to losing in the early rounds against David Louissau. I like Franklin better at LHW. More interesting matchups. I don't care whether or not it is title contention... I just like watching Rich fight. Not so much with Sherk. HE is usually an LnP champ. Last fight was good. He surprised the hell out of me with his striking skills. More reason to believe that a rematch with Florian should happen. They are both brand new fighters since they last fought.

Evil will always triumph over good...

Because good is dumb.

I didn't say contenders I said great fighters name one that Franklin beat?

Anderson beat Franklin, and Henderson. Some would also consider Marquardt great although I wouldn't.
