http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/p...ost?id=3156723

Quote:
Shane won 1st place in the No Gi Advanced 179.9 and under Division. Beat a black belt 19 to 2 in the semi finals and another by criteria in the finals with a tie score of 3 to 3.

Johny won 1st place in the Advanced Absolute (meaning any weight can enter) Division. He went 6 wins straight to win the Championship with 4 submissions and 2 decisions, one over Gilbert Melendez in the quarterfinals (10 to 0) and the other decision in the finals (7 to 0) against a 220 pound black belt from Brazil.

Johny was also awarded the tournaments Most Technical Grappler Award.

Congratulations to both. They looked great and only 3 days after they fought!!!
This is from Team Takedowns site forum.

Johny Hendricks winnning the absolute divison 3 days after his fight at about 180 and beating a very good MMA grappler like Melendez IMO is very impressive.

Bad year for Melendez... First he suffers his first loss to Ishida (I know, technically it was in 2007), then he loses for the second time, also losing his strikeforce belt, to the Punk, now this.

Bad string of luck for a guy that was almost unbeatable.

Yeah, Melendez was a top 10, and many thought he would become one of the best LW's in the World. Now there is no talk of him at all. I can't be suprised after the Thomson fight, Thomson made him look crap from what I remember.

Fedor fights I want to see..

Fedor vs. Tim Sylvia - DEMOLISHED
Fedor vs. Andrei Arlovski - DEMOLISHED

Yea Melendez has been pretty exposed by first Isihda last NYE and then Thomson. Just keep the fight on your feet or put him on his back and you can beat him.

Horrible 12 months for him.
