I joined this thread to late and i might be rehasing some stuff but a lot of people who only follow ufc haven't seen what silva can do. He's beat lee murry (he is great just hasn't got a lot of mainstream cause of the stabbing and all that), horn, newton, rivera,steibling. He has beat tons of fighters. He deserves his praise. He has earned it don't try and take it from him.

I agree, its not cool. From the UFC only fan he seems like some guy who barged in and beat their champ. But he has kicked ass all over the damn place and has had some good competition.

silva is over-rated but hes also the best all around p4p striker in the ufc. he has the best offensive strikes and kicks, he can counter off a small mistake, he has a great mt clinnch, great knee's and core strength plus hes smart about it all. But NEWS FLASH TO ALL BANDWAGON JUMPING NUTHUGGERS:HE HAS HOLES IN HIS GAME JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE AND JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE A CERTAIN TYPE OF FIGHTER WILL MAKE HIM LOOK MUCH LESS IMPRESSIVE THAN HE LOOKS FIGHTING GUYS WHO INSIST ON BANGIN WITH HIM!!

He's overrated BUT he's the best pound for pound striker in the UFC...brilliant. Oh and he's one of your favorite fighters..along with Chris Leben, imagine that.

Everyone has a hole in their game, when EVERYONE has a hole in their game, there's no point in bringing it up.

So what you're trying to say is someone who wont be willing to strike with him can defeat him on the ground. I must inform you my friend that Silva is just as good on the ground as he is on his feet, judging that you've only seen 2 fights, or know any additional background to Silva instead of knowing "he's the best striker" you'd know this.

I'm seriously interested in seeing Anderson fight again ...I am curious to see how fighters will try to adapt. I think most fighters are realizing that it's in their best interests to take the fight to the mat. If Anderson't ground game is as good as his stand up then it's going to be a long night for anyone that crosses paths with him. I heard (have not really seen many of his fights on the mat) that his ground IS weaker and his takedown defence is not as good as it could be. That doesn't mean he's not well rounded, I just think if anyone's gonna beat him, it'll be on the mat via submission or ground and pound

and your point is what? that a good striker cant be overated? that its crazy to like andy and leben at the same time cuz someone like you would probably just cast there favorite fighter to the side after one bad loss.

No the point was that anderson is in a div full of strikers that he can outclass with only a couple good grapplers and nobody with good enoguh takedowns to forsure be able to even get a takedown and that if there where good wrestlers with good ground and pound and submissions anderson would not look as good as in a div full of strikers who he can destroy easily as they play the game he wants them too. My point was perfectly valid as the famous phrase goes styles make fights.

and yet again you are dead wrong you say silva is just as good on the ground as he is on his feet!!~ ever seen him fight newton becasue after about one minute on the ground with carlos he was mounted eating shots, about one minute standing he was feeding him a flying knee to the nogan.You assume ive seen only two of his fights which means you didnt even read any of my posts as i stated before that his fans who have only seen his two ufc fights are the ones who over-rate him.You assume the stupidest things for little or no reason at all. HIm and chuck are the ufc's best strikers but their styles vary so much i cant put a name on #1


Like it or not silva is at risk against a veteran fighter who is also a strong wrestler with a good all around ground game heart and a good chin + decent standup. that = matt hughes.

There have been a lot of threads on Hughes vs. Silva .. wow that would be a good one, but what about GSP and Silva ... I think Matt Hughes would be very vulnerable on his feet, not only is Silva out of his league but he's also got a shorter reach. Hughes is world class on the ground though, I don't think too many people would say he doesn't pose a legitimate threat to submitting or ground and pounding Silva (or anyone in the world in his weight classs). I am really starting to believe that fight will never happen because I think Hughes is gonna have his hands full with St. Pierre and will ultimately (even if in a rubber match) end up without his title. Silva - St. Pierre would be a fight involving 2 of the best mixed martial artists in the world, definitely the fight I would MOST like to see

Sylva should be taken more serious! It's not "worshipping" a fighter just because you respect his skills and his track record-which by the way is very impresive. The only way I see anyone beating him is to of-course get him on the ground and pound him out!! That still is a tall order!
