maybe that was too harsh. But that loss in addition with loses to jardine and rampage have really put his career on a downslide and people dont seem to think he has title credentials anymore. People were shocked to see him lose to Rashad and chuck doesn't seem anywhere near as invincible as people before perceived. When a match up with anderson is discussed people don't give chuck a chance in hell, which wouldn't have been the case like 2 years ago

I find GSP/Fitch entertaining for the reasons I told you and I think it represents well enough the different aspect of the sport so I'd probably go for this one.
I don't know if you've noticed but I also picked Griffin/Sherk for FOTY and TBH I find this fight a bit more entertaining to watch than GSP/Fitch. The technical aspect was beautiful to watch and the fact that the fight was competitive adds on to it. But I don't think I'd show this one to try make somebody a fan because it was just a pure striking battle and the other aspects of MMA were under-represented IMO.
But how about yourself, you didn't give us your pick. Who would you see as FOTY and which fight would you show a person to try to make them a fan?

I don't know, thats tough. Fights that pop into my mind right now are Page vs Forrest, Gsp vs Serra, and Forrest vs Shogun(just re watched it this morning). All exciting fights, two of them with finish, 1 with a Knock down, and two were very suspenseful.

Fighter of the year?
GSP has looked untouchable his last three fights.
UFC Fight card of the year?
92 will probably take it but right now tie between 84 and 87
Fight of the year?
Griffin/Jackson might be a little biased b/c I am a huge Forrest fan and this fight had me on the edge of my seat.
Worst fighter of the year?Brandon Vera went from HW title contender to one of the most boring fighters and two straight losses
Worst fight of the year?
Vera/Andy fell asleep during it.

Agreed for Page/Forrest but Shogun/Forrest was in 2007 not 2008 and GSP/Serra 2 wasn't exciting at all IMO even though I was very happy with the outcome.
EDIT: Oops, just realize maybe you were talking about the fights you'd show somebody to make them a MMA fan?

Fighter of the year: Thiago Alves. He beat 3 really good WW's, one of those being one of the greatest fighters of all time and the other being a totally badass judo guy.
UFC fight card: UFC 84 was a great card, with dudes like Palhares and Kim totally shining in the pre-lims and guys like Penn, Wanderlei and Machida being awesome.
Fight of the year: Nogueira vs Sylvia was truly epic stuff. Nogueira is so the man, and he's the hero of our time. How can anyone not root for this guy? He's like Wanderlei in that aspect. Dude is smooth as hell, too.
Worst fighter of the year: Kalib Starnes ruined his MMA career with 1 fight. I mean, even Vera is still around, even though he's not that relevant anymore.
Worst fight of the year: Starnes vs Quarry was truly horrible. Usually, I think most MMA fans are retarded and make things much worse than they are, but this was truly horrible and embarrassing to watch. If I wanted to watch bad comedy, I'd watch Little Man.

Alves is definately the breakout fighter of the year. His photo in Aaronyman's av kinda looks like a bronzed Mark Kerr.
Fight of the year is Griffin and Jackson. The sound of that uppercut still gets me fired up.
I think we are all unanimous with the Starnes fight being the worst. Poor Quarry, he tried his damnest to do something too.
UFC 84 was pure dynmanite. Soo many contenders and the main event delivered. Saying 'of the year' I would go by the last 12 months and include UFC 79 to this list. It would be either or given that case. Vanderlei vs Chuck and Lyoto finished Sokoudjou.

Fighter of the Year was easily the hardest for me:
Koscheck : Hazlett Yoshida Lytle
Alves: Karo Hughes Kos
Maia: Quarry McDonald Herman
Lesnar : Herring and Couture...for a new talent this is pretty solid.
GSP, Penn, Silva all made a solid run as well.
Card of the Year:
Three way tie for
Affliction Banned
UFC 84
UFC 91
FoTY
Sherk vs. Griffin UFC 90
Worst Fighter of the Year:
Junie Browning....not for his fights but for his actions.
Worst Fight:
Maynard vs. Clementi ....not a big Maynard fan

Anderson Silva vs. Jon Jones is the best match-up the UFC has ever been able to arrange. Here's to hoping it goes down.

Fighter of the year?
Anderson Silva
UFC Fight card of the year?
UFC 92, if it ends to be lackluster then UFC 84.
Fight of the year?
Nogueira Vs Sylvia, obviously it is a biased decision but for me as a Nogueira fan when he won I was like a little kid in a candy store.
Worst fighter of the year?
Kalib Starnes
Worst fight of the year?
Kalib Starnes Vs Nate Quarry
