I see the UFC shoving Machida to the side even if he beats T. Silva because they really don't want to give him his shot and giving the winner of this fight the next title shot.
I think Machida will get pushed aside(unfairly) but as a Wand fan I'd love to see him to get a title shot. Yes- I think Wand makes it 3 in a row over a improved Rampage.
If Machida dominates T. Silva I'd like to see the excuse or next fight that they schedule for him to "prove" he's worthy.
PPV buys dominates how the UFC makes their matches- yes- good business sense but many times the best fighters aren't pitted against each other because of popularity.
Dana has always said he learned from boxing which is true as they can manipulate supposed "rankings" to name contenders. He did learn well.

Agreed.
I'm a proud Machida fan, but I love Wandy till no end, so if both men win their fights, I'd rather see Wandy get the shot, just for old time's sake, like one last hurrah before he goes over the hill.
But yeah, I would love to see the reactions and excuses if Machida wins.

Machida deserves to be in contention if he beats Thiago, but there's no doubt in my mind that Wanderlei/Rampage would be pushed into a title fight first.

That's what I'm hoping for. Wandy is already a legend, but if he snatches up the UFC title in 4 fights...yeah that would be awesome. I wouldn't mind seeing Rampage getting another shot at the title either, I like both of those fighters.

If Rampage wins, he gets the shot. If Wandy wins, they'll wait until the Machida fight. If Machida loses or barely wins, Wandy gets the shot. If Machida kicks Thiago's ass, Machida gets it.

Definitely agree. Machida deserves to at least be considered, but I think everyone knows the winner of Wanderlei/Jackson will get the shot. They're more "marketable" and have more "exciting fights"
Because the title is being fought for on the same night as these guys(Wanderlei/Jackson) are fighting, it basically aligns the timing for them to get the next shot at the title.

This sounds pretty much likely.

Believe me they will not put the LHW title on hold for Lyoto Machida. I dont think they woudl put the LHW title on hold to wait for Machida to fight if he was like 15-0 in the octagon and had already crushed everyone but the title holder.
