nate quarry news

http://www.boxinginsider.com/mma/fig...2860&zoneid=13

After being on a hiatus from the UFC and not fighting in almost a year, Nate “The Rock” Quarry returns to the octagon in December to take on fast rising youngster Brock Larson at UFC 66.

Recently BoxingInsider.com caught up with Quarry to talk about his fight, his personal life, and his long-awaited return to Mixed Martial-Arts.

BoxingInsider: First off Nate, tell our readers about your up-coming fight on December 30th.

Nate Quarry: I will be fighting Brock Larson. He’s a young kid looking for his opportunity so you know he’s going to come strong and fast.

Boxing Insider: Have you had any chance to study him at all during your training?

Nate Quarry: I saw his last few fights from Extreme Challenge and his fight last year with Jon Fitch. He’s a tough fighter with a slick ground-game. He also never quits during any of his matches and has never been stopped in a fight.

BoxingInsider: Since you’ve took such a long break from MMA, do you think being non-active for the past year will have any effect on you for this fight?

Nate Quarry: No, but the last year has been rough though. I injured my back right after the fight with Rich, I wasn’t healthy enough to fight until late August. But that’s when my father passed away as well. So I’ve been dealing with a lot of issues lately, but I think I’ve got everything behind me now.

BoxingInsider: Would you like another shot at the title or a chance to redeem your loss against Rich someday?

Nate Quarry: [Laughs] Oh I’d love that, but that won’t be for a long time. I’ve just got to concentrate on my up-coming fight with Brock Larson, and then take it one fight at a time after that.

BoxingInsider: Well I wish you the best of luck in your up-coming fight in December. Would you like to say anything to your fans before we head out?

Nate Quarry: I would just like to thank all of my fans who have stuck with me and supported me the whole way. Stand strong.

Sad to hear about his father but I still can't stand the guy. Overrated to the max. I hope Larson destroys him so I don't have to discuss him anymore. Also, I was unaware that he even had any fans.

Both these guys are overrated, so this actually might be a good fight. Larson will look to bring it to the ground and Quarry will be trying for a stand up knock out. I guess Nate will be favored, but he's done - I hope Brock steps it up and helps Quarry, once again, fade into obscurity.

Yeah, I like Nate ... he suffered set backs after 3 impressive fights in the UFC ... dang he got beat bad by Franklin ... hope he comes back and does a few good things but can't see him being a champ no way

Good to hear Nate Quarry is back and healthy. After buying The Ultimate Fighter 1 and watching some of the episodes, I've grown to like Nate. He's a good guy and I've seen some of his fights including the one where Rich Franklin killed him, looked impressive (besides the Franklin fight)

I like Nate. He seems like a really cool guy. Him facing Franklin was just a case of "Throwing him to the wolves". Nice to see him get another chance at the big time.

That's just wrong , anyone who steps into the ring with a person the caliber of Rich Franklin will always have my respect not to mentionjust stepping into the Octagon. All fighters regardless of their records deserve respect just for having the "eggs" to step into the ring.
