The promotion recently listed the long-rumored event on its official Web site along with the good news.
European-based pay-per-view (PPV) events historically don’t perform as well as others, which could be the reason the promotion was able to hammer out a deal with its cable television provider. It could also be the fact that the UFC has already booked the first quarter of 2009 with several shows.
Have a look at the early jam-packed schedule for the New Year:
UFC 93: “Franklin vs. Henderson” from The O2 in Dublin, Ireland, on January 17
UFC 94: “St. Pierre vs. Penn 2” from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on January 31
UFC Fight Night 17 from the University of Southern Florida (USF) Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla., on February 7
UFC 95 from the O2 Arena in London, England, on February 21
UFC 96 from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, on March 7
UFC 97 from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, on April 18
And those are just the ones we know about — more could be in the works … especially of the “Fight Night” variety.
UFC 95 currently features the highly anticipated lightweight debut of Diego Sanchez against Joe Stevenson in the main event of the evening. Middleweights Nate Marquardt and Wilson Gouveia are also expected to mix it up in an important division clash.
Stay tuned for more announcements … there’s another juicy 185-pound match up in the works. For more on the UFC 95 fight card and rumors click here.

I would rather see UFC 93 for free but I understand them putting 95 for free if Stevenson/Sanchez is the main event because that wouldn't do good on PPV.

Yea I'm actually happy they did it this way because I wouldn't be able to not look up the results of 93 with Shogun fighting.
Diego vs Joe for free is going to be great.
Although this means both UFC events in Feb are free.

Good news, since I get to see Sanchez make his 155 debut and against a solid competitor, even though Joe Daddy will most likely lose.
Did I just read that Gouveia and Marquardt could be fighting? Awesome. FOTYC type stuff. Joe Silva is earning his money.

You make this sound like a bad thing?
And yeah, staying off the forums to watch it on tape delay is absolute MURDER.

Not a bad thing at all just making a point that caught me off guard when I thought about it.
Considering 92,93,and94 are all within 1 month thats a lot of PPV money so it'll be good to have a month without having to pay.

Man doesn't MMA realize people are broke
damn 4 PPV in like 30 or so days that's going to be expensive man.
Feb will be a much needed break.
Although Having Wandy vs Rampage, Shogun, and Fedor all fighting in a month makes me remember Pride.
Great month of MMA especially when you think that you have Dynamite on NYE, Sengoku, and WEC.

I'd rather have UFC 94 on spike.. but they need to make money off that landmine.
UFC 95 is cool, but I agree with E-thug, staying off the forum on fight night because of tape delay is brutal. I ALWAYS end up checking too.. and I'm disappointed in myself everytime.
I did it during AJ's last fight.. I saw the thread "Anythony Johnson reminds me so much of GSP" And wanted to cry a little.
