This fight is actually more appealing to me than Silva/Cote was, and that's because Thales poses a legitimate threat on the ground, which we haven't seen Silva deal with since his fight with Lutter.

What it boils down to, is how Silva approaches the fight. Is he going to destroy Leites on the feet? Or is he going to play the ground game with him, and avenge another submission loss for Pele (which he did with Lutter)?

Leites takedowns aren't great, but he's a very tough guy, so he needs to work on setting-up his shots with strikes, or else he'll be eating leather for as long as Anderson wants him to be awake.

No, all the guys Silva fights are well-rounded, but NOT elite ground fighters. Thales is a decorated BJJ champion who has learned to adapt his ground game to MMA impressively.

I can't believe you're calling Franklin over-rated either, that's an absurd claim considering he's only ever lost to two elite fighters, one of which is undefeated.

Last of all, please, point out a list of elite strikers in the UFC middleweight division so I can laugh hysterically.

Agreed, Franklin's far from overrated. He's proven that he's a great fighter, he just can't beat 2 really great fighters. No shame in losing to Machida and Silva twice.

Even LHW doesn't have that many technical strikers, it has guys with power, but none have the technical fluidity of Silva.

Rich hasn't been pitted against technical strikers, aside from Lyoto and Silva, and neither of those guys has ever been outstruck in a fight (except maybe Silva in the Chonan fight, which is debatable).

I think Rich's striking has looked pretty ****ing awesome lately, especially against Hamill. He should have been training his stand-up with Matt Hume all along, he's a perfect coach for Rich.

Everyone acts like Andersons and undefeatable MW. Palhares would eat him for lunch and make Silva look like shits doing it.

Forum Bets: 2-0

I dont mind this fight at all as Leites has won five fights in a row at MW even if the Marquardt one was controversial. But I agree they will need a very strong co-main event to sell. Perhaps Nogueira/Brock?
