Rashad Evans - Will he Reign Supreme?

Rashad really went to town on Forrest. Yes Forrest won the first 2 rounds but they were close, it wasn't one way traffic.

Lets be honest, as soon as it hit the ground Rashad was seriosly tooling Forrest, I mean really dominating him, Forrest didn't have a chance. Rashad being an excellent wrestler and Forrests takedown defence yet to be proved I can only assume Rashad would have been able to get Forrest down at some point within the 5 rounds other than this occassion. This tells me that Rashad pretty much had the fight in the bag as long as he could avoid getting KO'd or his leg jacked up by Forrest.

I mean lets analyse Rashad for a second.

Iron Chin.
Fantastic 1 Punch KO power.
Good cardio.
Good combinations.
Good footwork.
Good head movement.
Great double leg.
Great overall wrestling.
Incredibly calm demeanor whilst fighting.

The only real question mark is his ground game but can you think of any LHW that has good enough striking and wrestling to take Rashad down and good enough jujitsu to keep him there and sub him? I can't.

I can honestly see Rashad reigning supreme at the top of the LHW's for a long long time.

The 2 biggest challenges for him are:

1. Rampage who has a similar style to Rashad but I could see Rashad mounting him and GnPing him to a finish as from what we have seen from Rampage he isn't brilliant off his back.

2. Anderson Silva who is capable of KOing him standing and subbing him off his back.

What do you think? Does Rashad have the ability to remain king of the most talent rich division in the UFC?

(If you deem that this post does'nt bring anything new to the table regarding Rashad then feel free to delete it)

I think Rampage is a bigger and better version of Rashad, if Rashad is to fight Page next, then no...

I do think he could beat everyone else though

I think Rashad would have serious trouble with:
Thiago Silva
Dan Henderson
Shogun (even the Shogun that showed up to the Griffin fight has the tools IMO)

Don Frye's Mustache > Kimbo's Beard

If he can beat Rampage convincingly, then absolutely he can for a while.

Demian Maia may be the Fred Astaire of jiu-jitsu, but it’s too bad Silva is the Gene Kelly of kicking everyone’s ass.

18-0 in his career, is he the next Fedor at LHW?

But seriously, Rashad only needs to improve how fast he can find his rythm and figure out his opponent's timing and range. Every time he did, he finished his opponent in less than a minute. I think he could kick everybody's asses with ease if he gets to do it 1st round.

Rashad hasn't taken a good punch yet tho. I mean Forrest doesn't have knockout power and I don't thin Chuck landed clean on him. Rampage could rock Rashad and than we'll see if he still showboats.

I still think he's got a few more years before he's "champion" material. Maybe just one more year. Right now, I see him getting beaten pretty easily by rampage, shogun, machida, and a few others in the shark tank.

The LHW division is stacked with seasoned vets that have this meanness about them that guys at Rashads level haven't quite achieved yet.

I think that this title reign will be short and sweet for him, but that he comes back in a year or two's time to dominate.

This is exactly what everyone assumed would happen in the LHW division once all the PRIDE guys started coming over. (Not Rashad having the belt, but seeing the belt change hands nearly every title defence.) Every fighter has the tools to win any fight when it comes down to the elite guys at 205. Rashad won't hold the belt for long, just like Forrest and Rampage didn't, and whoever has the belt after Rashad won't hold it for long either.
