Maybe this is why Nogueira didn't look good? I am not taking anything from Mir but I wouldn't want to fight with staph if I were a fighter.

Well, then why didn't he drop out of the fight? It wasn't the main event, anyway.

Props to Big Nog for being a gamer, but a staph infection is as good a reason as any to delay a fight.

As much as I dislike Dana, I dont think he would blatantly lie.

In other words I belive him.

To be honest, I dont really care. It sucked to see Nog lose because I love him and wanted him to win but I hate excuses after the fact. If you arent well enough to fight, then dont. If you do fight, then take the results as they are. Apparently thats what Nog was trying to do until someone else (Dana) spoke for him.

I think Nog will be back strong. I really hope they set up Nog/Couture as its a fight I really want to see and would put one or the other back into title contention.

People have said things like this after they won as well (Silva wasn't 100% in the Lutter or Nate fight). You'd be surprised how many people don't come in at 100% but they do it anyways cause they don't want to disappoint the fans.

Staph infection doesn't cause you to eat punches due to a lack of head movement. They said he was recovering from Staph, which is pretty nasty shit, but if it was still effecting his health they wouldn't let him fight. It would be a risk to him and Mir.

To be fair it's a very similar performance in a lot of ways to Diego vs Koscheck which Diego had his staph issue before hand.

Now I still think Mir deserves all the credit in the world but at least it's some hope for his next fight.
