Machida - Rashad

Now I know this is a loaded question but I think i see a similarity lately between Rashad and Machida. initially I did not like Rashad because I felt all he was is a strong wrestler. After he knocked out Lidell i was not overly impressed but he caught my eye. Now over Forrest I am intrigued. I found a slight similarity between Machida and Rashad as I noticed in Rashad's victory over Lidell he was quite elusive and now again vs Forrest.

I find Machida has perfected this compared to Rashad but Rashad has also been able to be elusive yet finish the fight which we haven't seen Machida do much of.

I really just want to see if anyone can see a similarity because I felt Rashad was back peddling and dogging quite a bit. No hard feelings either way discuss.

Rashad was losing the standup to Forrest. Something I've never seen happen to Machida.

Machida is one of the only guys that Rashad would not be able to out slowpace in a fight. Machida is super patient, is a precision striker and would confuse the hell out of Rashad I think. Liddell was a straight forward striker, Forrest was a brawling type striker, Machida doesn't stick around long enough to mix it up and get caught.
If they do hit the mat Machida is a legit black belt who trains with top level BJJ guys on a day to day basis.
I'm not saying Rashad couldn't KO Machida but if there is a guy out there that can make Rashad look stupid its gonna be Machida....oh ya and Anderson too (of course).

Everything I've seen of Machida is that he's a clinical genius in the octagon. The only thing that has yet to be tested is a true punch a la what Rashad gave Liddell. I haven't seen enough of Rashad to see if he has the same kind of counterstriking ability.

I really do hope Thiago can knock Machida's ass out but I don't see it happening .

Hopefully it ends up being Rampage - Machida for the title instead of Rashad-Machida.

I don't really see this similarity between the 2 fighters. The shots Rashad took in his last fight is what Machida took in his whole career. lol

That would be so damn awesome. Once that happened there would be millions of excuses why machida didnt win.

the only thing similar is the fact that Rashad will wait and wait for an opportunity

Rashad has more power it seems and might be a little bit quicker with the power punch, where as Machida is a bit more elusive in his defence

Rashad loses points battles with sloppy strikers.

You think he's going to beat Machida?

Rashad's only chance in ANY fight at 205 is a puncher's chance IMO and the thing about a puncher's chance is that you have to be able to hit the person. Do I think Rashad can hit machida square? Hell no.

He's not going to frustrate machida since Machida doesn't look for a knockout.

Make no mistake about it, if Lyoto Machida beats Thiago Silva, he definately deserves a shot at the title and will probably get it. I would love to see Evans vs. Machida.
