Keith Jardine vs. Luis Cane UFC 97
http://demandmma.com/news/keith-jard...ane-at-ufc-97/
Quote:
Keith Jardine Expected to Take On Luis Arthur Cane at UFC 97
Published by Mike M. on January 8, 2009
Keith Jardine (14 - 4 - 1) will not be making an appearance at UFC 96, after all. Instead, Jardine will be taking on UFC light heavyweight Luis Arthur Cane (9 - 1) at UFC 97 on April 18th, in Montreal, according to MMABay.co.uk
Jardine is fresh off of a decision win against muay thai specialist Brandon Vera at UFC 89. Jardine has had a rocky road in the UFC so far, and back to back wins over Vera and Cane would definitely thrust him into the upper echelon of the light heavyweight rankings once again.
Cane on the other hand is coming off of an impressive knockout of highly touted former Pride standout, Rameau Thierry Sokodjou at the same event, UFC 89. Cane is 2 - 1 in the UFC with his other win coming over Jason Lambert via TKO, and his lone loss coming at the hands of James Irvin via disqualification, after kneeing a downed opponent.
This should be a fantastic fight between two guys who are known to give their all inside the cage. The winner of this fight will definitely be throwing their name in contention for future title considerations.

jardine continuously gets top guys in the division...and this is no different...wow, luis cane is a scary dude, it'll be interesting to see what kind of gameplan greg jackson can muster up for this one....
luis will probably be the betting favourite...sounds like a fun fight for the fans tho...

Honestly I'm not sure how I feel about this fight. Cane has a chin but outside of that I think he is rather average as a fighter IMO. Jardine however has trouble with guys who bring the fight to him sometimes and Cane will do that.
Not sure how I feel about this it's a very even match up they seem to be close standing and I think they are about even on the ground.

this is a prime opportunity for jardine to showcase his above average wrestling and ground game...i personally think standing and trading w/ a hard hitting southpaw w/ good thai skills would be insane....luis isn't as fast as vera was, so maybe jardine will land some shots, but i'll be screaming 'take him down keith!' for sure....

Vera has looked real slow since he moved to LHW while Cane looked pretty fast when he murdered Lambert IDK I think Cane is faster then Jardine.
But I agree Jardine should take him down and pound on Cane.

vera isn't slow at LHW, he just isn't nearly as aggressive as he was at HW...his movements are actually pretty fast...and i'd say faster than cane's...
nonetheless, yes cane is faster than jardine...the whole division is faster than jardine.
cane is very tough, but he really only has one good punch: left cross and he throws it alot....

This is a fight where I think Jardine needs to show the improvment in his strategy. Don't get involved in a brawl, stay on the outside, use his reach and throw punch and kick combos.
Jardine should be able to take it, I'm pulling for the Dean of Mean. And damn he always has some very tough opponents.....Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin,Brandon Vera, Wilson Gouveia, Stephan Bonnar, Wanderlei Silva, and now Cane. Jardine is a Stud that's for sure. His experience should pay off in this fight.

Yea I think Jardine has a good shot at winning this he also has a good chance of losing it since the guy can get put down and Cane has some power.

First of all props to The Legend as he was just talking about this yesterday as a great match, which it will be.
Jardine needs to just stay on the outside, and yeah he really needs to stay away from Cane's left. Has all the makings to be a great fight.

What Jardine really needs to do, if he wants to win, is the nipple tweak.
