Kim Dong Hyun

It's been a while since the forum has discussed this fine prospect so I was hoping to stir up some discussion.

He's fighting Karo Parisyan @ 94 and fighting Karo is a tough fight.

I've been analyzing this fight and come to think of it, Karo has be madly underrated after his lackluster fight against Chonan and his loss to Thiago Alves.

People tend to forget that Karo is a tough fight for anyone and can provide anyone with certain problems. I think Karo is still a very good fighter who can provide any of the UFC's welterweights with a tough fight.

With all this said, how does he do against Kim Dong Hyun?

Kim is a very tall welterweight and he has some power. He has KO wins and submission wins and like Karo, he is a Judoka(Yay for all the Judo fans).

Karo probably has the better Judo background but I'm convinced that Kim has more power in his hands.

I'm picking Kim to win but honestly, that's because he's my favorite prospect at this point and I believe he is the future of the WW Division.

Discuss.

STUN-GUN FTW!!!!

I love me some Stun Gun and I'm picking him to beat Karo in this fight and completely agree with edge Judo-wise going to Karo but the power to Kim.

I think this will come down to Karo's state of mind- personally I think he is shot mentally. His withdrawal from the Yoshida fight the day before is still super fishy to me regarding his "back" injury. There was never any follow up to that injury and there was the loopy sounding Karo interview before the weigh-ins. I think mentally Karo is gone(could be wrong but ATM that's how I see it).

Kim's future is bright and I see this fight as a stepping stone for his career and one that will lead Karo farther down.

Kim needs to get himself a gas tank because he gassed horribly against Matt Brown.

He clearly has a lot of talent but I don't see him beating Karo.

After seeing what Thiago did to Hughes and Koscheck the fact Karo took round 1 against Thiago was impressive.

Karo is being overlooked and I think he takes this just because he is much farther along as a fighter right now.

I know it's besides the point, but I've just forgotten... Did Hughes take the first round aswell? I have a dim recollection that he did.

Like you say, Kim needs to improve a bunch cardio wise for this fight, it could well be a high paced fight against Karo aswell.

Kim was a nicer prospect before the Brown fight, I still have high hopes for him, but he needs to work for it. He's got the talent, gotta work for the rest.

Fedor fights I want to see..

Fedor vs. Josh Barnett
Fedor vs. Randy Couture
Fedor vs. Tim Sylvia - DEMOLISHED
Fedor vs. Andrei Arlovski - DEMOLISHED

hmmmmm, i wonder how many become reality..

Re-watched the fight again.

I was at the event for the fight, so I must of missed the G+P that Thiago put on Hughes. All I would of seen is Hughes laying on Thiago for pretty much the whole round. So that is what sticks out in my mind

Like bbjd said, Karo is without a doubt the safer choice in this fight.

Karo is a veteran and I admit, Kim has a lot more he needs to learn, like cardio as many of the members here has mentioned.

If Kim's cardio is in the same state as it was in the Brown fight, Kim's in a world of trouble. I'm hoping Kim learned from his previous mistake and has enough gas to perform at his top performance against Karo because he'll need it.

Kim's performance against Brown was very disappointing, apart from the 1st round which was I found very impressive. With that said, I can still see things that Kim needs to work on but he's still young and has lots of time to learn. I do think his fight against Karo is a big step up and he should fight more guys like Yoshiyuki, Goulet, or Carneiro but I think he can give Karo a very good fight, and he most definitely has a chance at winning.

Apart from his cardio, Kim's Jiu Jitsu seemed like it can use some work as well.
