Aleksander Emelianenko may expose UFC weakness again

A few threads on this ... Aleksander is apparently in serious talks with the UFC as he wants to get out from under the shadow of his brother Fedor. I think it would look bad on the UFC to have another Pride fighter come in and swoop the belt away, basically making current UFCers look like a bunch of glorified low level fighters hidden behind clever media packaging, the same way Silva sorta did in the middleweight division. It is a positive step just bringing in better talent, though and I'm all for it if it strengthens the organization. Still, I'd like to see Arlovski hand him his ass

This theory is the most retarded out of all of them. No offense to you, because had I not made the first post this thread would be filled with supporters.

This part is directed to EVERYONE!
EVERY SINGLE FIGHTER IN THE UFC RIGHT NOW, YES EVEN THE CHAMPIONS, ALL CAME FROM DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS!!!!!!! HUGHES CAME FROM EXTREME CHALLENGE SO DOES THAT MEAN EXTREME CHALLENGE > UFC??? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY CAN'T PEOPLE GRASP THIS CONCEPT THERE IS NO LOGIC IN SAYING ORGANIZATION A > ORGANIZATION B!! IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY IS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TALENT! PRIDE'S PRESIDENT DID NOT GIVE BIRTH TO ALEXANDER EMELIANENKO! HE IS A NORMAL HUMAN BEING WHOCREATED HIS OWN TALENT AND PRIDE JUST HAPPENED TO BE THE SHOW THAT HE DISPLAYED IT ON!

Just to let ya know, this was in response to every thread that has ANYTHING to do with Pride vs. UFC. Not just this one don't take it personal Slick.

amen dude.....at the same time to the people that are saying Aleks would sweep the belt away...is it just me or does Sylvia get no fuc king respect at all. He's a good fighter and would add alot to the UFC HW class, but he's not as good as AA or Sylvia, I don't see him beating either right now. Who has Aleks beat that makes u think th UFC HW division would be a cakewalk for him. Sylvias has knocked out ougher guys than he has, including AA and Ricco when Ricco wus top class. Give Tim some respect, most underatted fighter in all of MMA.

Tim has excellent stand up but a goofy stance which makes people tend to think he is sloppy. He's a really good kick boxer and Aleks is also good standing up. Aleks is also good on the ground though something Tim isn't good at. Aleks is like AA and Sylvia combined, not to imply that he is any better than the 2 but I mean his style. I think being 6'6'', if Aleks were to be losing the standup war against Tim, he might be able to take him down easier than most other UFC heavyweights and finish the fight from there. Aleks fighting AA would be a different story though because they are both Sambo but I give the edge in standup to Aleks due to his height and chin. AA had good KO power, speed and technique, but his jaw is questionable. Aleks can probably take one of AAs hits and still fight. I think it would be a much tougher fight for Aleks though and would probably be an all out war if AA can stay concious. Just my opinions though I think Aleks could beat both Tim and AA and I said why.

And you're right Aleks gets more respect for being Fedor's brother and Tim gets no respect for beating high level competition multiple times. I remember Barnett having his way with Aleks in the stand up game for a little while towards the end and Barnett is not a standup fighter. Aleks was beating him for the most part but Barnett had his way quite a few times. Aleks' biggest and probably only big win is over Sergei Kharitonov (who I won't deny is really good and it was a really impressive win), and Sylvia has beaten Ricco, Arlovski x2.

yeah i like what wltfu said..i think we have to bring in guys from other orgs to keep things fresh and exciting. there is no gaurentee that aleks will be dominate. i think he matchs up well with some of the guys and would be a welcome addition to a thin division. i hope it goes down.

here's a link to the info

Fedor’s brother on his way to UFC

After facing the Brazilian Fabricio Werdum in Pride & Honor, the event taking place next Sunday, in Holland, the Russian Aleksander Emelianenko will finish talks with the directors of the UFC. According to information published in the American press, Aleksander’s goal is to take a new direction in his career by leaving Pride and the shadow of his elder brother, the heavyweight champion of the Japanese organization, Fedor Emelianenko.

Confident in his capabilities, Little Fedor already has the heavyweight belt in his sites. “Tim Silvia (current UFC heavyweight champion) is a good fighter. Let’s just say that, if I have the chance to face him, I will take it from him with pleasure", says Aleksander.

Aside from the duel between Little Fedor and Werdum, Pride & Honor has also planned participations of the Brazilians Murilo Ninja (against Rodney Faverus) and Thiago Tavares, who will face Ulas Aslan

I don't like how they call him "Little Fedor" in that report. It sounds rude to me and I don't think that's what Aleks wants to be known as. Could be wrong though I don't know the guy personally, but it seems that if he is leaving PRIDE because he is sick of being in his bro's shadow, then he prolly wouldn't appreciate being referred to as "Little Fedor" constantly. Another reason I think he would leave PRIDE is because it is pointless for him to be there with Fedor as champ. As long as Fedor is champ, Aleks is eternally stuck at a contender status. And it doesn't look like Fedor is losing his belt anytime soon.

Sheesh, harsh words Pothead! how can I put this ... I think a lot of people would say that if another Pride fighter comes in and dominates it does in fact speak to the GENERAL level of skill and might show that an organization does overall have a weaker base, especially if Alexander was not the best in Pride. I think that speaks volumes!! I think it is good for the UFC bringing in new people for sure but another fighter coming in from Pride who would clean up would make the "regular" batch talent look more mediocre IMHO.

Also, Pothead, you say that Pride's president did not give birth to Alexander - true enough - but the organization as a whole probably did play a role in this guy's development and capabilities as a fighter. These guys train and work with one another and if there talent and training is on another level and they clean up in the UFC, that truly raises all kinds of questions about the level of talent int he competing organizations. Anyway, from what I'm reading,it sounds like he may not be that dominant
