FEG Head Tanikawa talking about buying out the UFC

Quote:
Tanikawa first told the fans, “Thank you for the booing” then followed, “The best Kakutougi event in the world is done by K-1 and the ex-PRIDE staff. The UFC maybe doing good but I am confident that we, the people that actually guild MMA, will have more power.” Then backstage Tanikawa told the reporters, “Next year (2009), I want to bring back the center of MMA to Japan.

Many fans would come to the show, once we saved enough money, I am hearing the UFC’s parent company, that Casino, is having a trouble so I would like to buy the UFC.” Tanikawa seemed half joking when he said this but considering the current finance crisis in the US and the way the value of the Japanese yen is rising recently we can not consider this as a complete fairly tale.

Haven't we heard this before with other people possibly buying the UFC? I doubt it happens.

The UFC makes more money than any other promotion and I don't think its even close. They aren't going to sell out because Station Casinos has taken a hit in the gaming/ hospitality industry. FEG will never be able to buy out the UFC no matter how much Tanikawa talks about it.

** EDIT ** However, I would like to see some of the UFC guys get bashed in a K-1 rules fight.

Credit to Toxic for the sick sig!

I'm not sure if I'd want them to buy the UFC out but I would be interested in seeing some of the K-1 guys in the UFC and some of the UFC guys in K-1.

There is about as much chance of this as Elite XC coming back.

I know that its hard times right now in the states, but he would have to bring out some fairly pretty pennies to buy the UFC out.
