I know it's old but...

Without too much "you're an idiot" or Matt Hughes bashing, do you think he was out at the end of the Newton fight?

...and if he was, do you think they should have given it a draw?

Yes, in my opinion I think he was out, if you watch the video closely, there are two things very apparent.

1) He does not get up right away as if he has just won the match.
2) He looks at the ref and has a lost look on his face, almost as if he was saying "What Happened?"

That's my opinion, not fact: so hold off on the mean & disrespectful comments.

I respect Matt Hughes and his accomplishments but I really feel he was out.

I don't think he was.

That lost look on his face could have been due to the fact he didn't realize Newton was unconscious, and why the fight was being stopped.

I haven't seen the fight in some time though.

thats a tough call but since newton was still way out of it and matt hughes though confused was able to somewhat regain consiousness i think matt hughes should be awarded the win and he pounded the shit out of newton the second time so its all good

Matt got the win and that's that, Newton was in another world as well, I just honestly think Matt was out and let Newton drop more than he actually slammed him.

Oh he was def out. Quite clear when you watch it. Though it's hard to call it a draw or loss a day or week later. Either way, he was out.

Yeah, everyone seems to pretty much share my opinion.

So assuming he was out. If you were a ref, what call would you make?
If you could call it at the end of the fight, do you think a draw would be in order? Since they were both asleep? Or was Matt out first?

Can you choke someone out first, technically winning, but get KOed in a fall and win but not be awake? lol

Well... The way I've looked at it is this:

If this was a fight in the street, Matt was the first to regain consciousness. Carlos would still be asleep on the concrete, to which Matt could've held a hell of a curb party on his behalf at that point. So I gave the win to Matt, even though he was out when the slam occured.

Besides, I would feel real bad about it if Carlos Newton came back and whooped his ass in their rematch, but that didn't happen. Newton was served up a beating for 20 straight minutes in the rematch, so I can't call it a fluke.

It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree... As long as I don't bore you and I spark a moment of thought, my goal is achieved.

I personally dont think he was out. I think he felt himself going out and made a desperate slam attempt I think he felt well im gonna slam him as hard as I can I might go to sleep or im gonna break the hold. I dont think he expected to knock him out.

I just dont think if he was asleep he could have put that much force behind his slam
