BJ winless in 2009?

I heard this prediction a while back from someone, but now am really starting to wonder. BJ's going to have no easy time in the UFC L/W division. Even apart from KenFlo who I think beats him, I'm not sure I see him beating Huerta, or a few other guys. I'm not even sure he's getting past Guida. I'm afraid it's all down hill for BJ.

But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe GSP is just that much better than anyone else.

this I agree with....

the rest i don't...Penn is an elite fighter...everybody gets thrashed by gsp...and at LW, Penn is a monster

but i wonder about his motivation to fight now....will he train that hard for a fight w/ Florian...?

I can't see a guy w/ so much pride like BJ doing that...

You said it right there. BJ is great, hes just truly dominant at 155, not at 170. He is to LW what GSP is to WW. The man.

Maybe you're right.

But just a little mma math to support the point, Matt Serra seemed to do as well as Penn, and i don't think anyone would call him an elite fighter. Seriously, at least Fitch and Kosh finished. And I think they at least landed a couple of punches. I don't think Penn landed a single punch.

And the Florian win over Stevenson was much more impressive than Penn's win.

He's going to have to prove it. L/W div. is stacked. If he gets by Florian, I'll believe again. But I can't see him subbing flo, nor knocking him out.

He's far from dominant at LW. He fought a past his prime 145er, a severely overrated Stevenson and beat Sherk who is his only win over anyone good at LW. How exactly is he truly dominant? He's NOTHING compared to GSP even at 155. He hasn't proved anything at 155 yet and I seriously doubt he will.

B.J is still a force at LW, I hope he has the mental state of "well, I can't beat GSP, but I can still hold a strong legacy by being the greatest LW ever".

I never understood the Penn hype. Good yeah, but the hype was just over the top. Who are the big LW's he's taken out? Sherk? Okay, so he's a good fighter, but the P4P hype I think has gotten to his head. Maybe this loss will be the best thing that's ever happened to him and he'll train like someone whose not already arrived.
