Didn't expect what happened with bj vs gsp

Guys i have to say going in to this event that either way i could see both fighters pulling it out. I expected a great fight either way and would be happy with whoever won.

I have to say though was I the only one that expected the fight to be a little more competitive? I think both BJ fans and GSP fans could agree on that maybe. I'm personally not all over BJ because well i don't think BJ is all that great at that weight, that is the fighting reason at least. I expected at least 1 or 2 rounds at least of it being back and forth or at least not a holy crap i need to hold out through this round kinda thing.

Regardless i mean GSP is a monster and being beaten by him isn't a bad thing at all he is a fantastic fighter but i think i'm just still so shocked that it was so one sided. Oh also was it just me or did GSP's striking seem a little bit quicker?

When it was first announced I wasn't sure who was going to win. The more I thought about it the more I thought that Penn really didn't have a chance. I even posted that I thought Penn didn't have a chance before the fight.

Penn is a great fighter at LW and seems to school whoever he pleases. He should just stay there, going up and down in weight all the time can't be healthy.

Totally agree man.

I'm a huge GSP fan, and I expected the fight to be WAY more competitive that what it was.

At the same time, it really didn't surprise me that much. Like I figured GSP's wrestling/control/cardio won him this fight, but he executed it just perfectly. He never even gave BJ a chance for any offense.

Amazing performance by GSP, and although I still think he could work a lot more on his stand up, it looked sharper than ever tonight. His jab was hella quick.

So good.

I said it here in open forum. Penn's behavior showed a guy afraid of what he thought was going to happen. He made the comment in video of "how he got himself into this".

He was wrestling with alot of worry/weight before this fight. His performance showed that. His over the top trash talking has made him a marked man for a while.

Maybe the kid can grow from this and carry himself in a more mature manner. Time will tell.

I don't even think BJ took one round. I agree with you TS, unbelievably one sided. I think the hype fooled us all...

I personally expected more dominance by BJ by standup, with GSP blasting away at his legs until he was barely capable of moving forward. I in no way expected GSP to completely eclipse BJ in every aspect and just destroy BJ's will to live.

I was sure GSP was going to win when I saw him beating BJ in the standup. BJ was like a punching bag.

I had hoped it was going to be a closer match, but am glad that it was one-sided(wouldn't have matter which way to me). This way we kill the "lucky punch" crowd or those that say "what if so and so zigged instead of zagged".

I can agree, I was really hoping for this to be an Epic Battle kinda like there 1st fight, in which it were so close that you could have called it either way, but it just ended up so 1 sided, BJ had no answers to any of GSP game and that is the shocking part, he couldn't trade with GSP and he couldn't stop GSP from taking him down at will.

He was getting totally worked in the ground with the constant guard-passing and side control and even almost had BJ in the Crucifix position, and i have never seen BJ get beaten so badly, thought BJ would have taken the Stand-up but GSP just came out guns blazing

PAHA, you don't think he took one round?!??!

How about I don't think he even landed one punch. I swear I only saw BJ throw maybe 10 strikes and I'll be generous and say one mediocre one landed.

BJ had absolutely no offense at all.

This was supposed to be a historical fight you know, one for the ages, something epic in the ufc...and it turned out to be a one-sided beatdown.

It was worse than the Fitch fight, unbelievable. I'm disapointed in BJ big time.
