Lutter stood up breaking Pele's guard open way too easily. Pele failed to keep a closed guard in order to control Lutter more effectively and as a result Lutter had his way pounding on him and transitioning from full guard, to side mount to full mount, pound, then arm barred him. A basic grappling stratedgy that can be employed by any decent grappler with an opponent who makes the mistakes Pele did. Pele also lay underneath Lutter offering his arms for an armbar on two occasions in an attempt to get up and he fought, for the most part, with an open guard.

Silva's guard is not easily broken, and he's much better at defending and striking from the guard than Pele is. That they were ONCE teammates at ChuteBoxe in Brazil is moot simply because they fight different both on their feet and on the ground.
