Sounds to me like he's trying to be as fair as possible by not making a direct accusation either way.
I admit I may have labeled YOU wrong, but your post was extremely similar to those who make it seem that the accusers were damned either way. I've seen a lot of those posts lately and the way yours looked resembled them alot, so excuse the assumption that you are the same kinda fan. I just used yours as a quote because it seemed the most fitting for my reply.
Yea I know who they are, they are 2 guys who are known for never making excuses after a loss. So that tells me this was the case again. Maybe they thought he felt greasy but weren't sure at the time if it was his sweat or some vaseline, and now that there is video footage of Vaseline being rubbed on him, they are coming forward. They didn't want to mention anything after the fight because they are not known for being excuse makers. They are stepping forward now to add their personal insight on the matter, which they have every right to do considering they are past opponents of GSP.
All good, my friend. Mis-understanding happens. And I, too, would never expect excuses from Serra and Hughes, but legitimately feeling cheated is not an excuse, in my books. Had they felt that GSP was greasy, and were suspicious about it, I just don't think they'd take it, lying down. Serra and Hughes don't strike me as the type of men to let a transgression of the rules slip by. But that's just my take. Also, whilst some could say that GSP fans are mad-men for not suspecting that something might be up with all of these names now coming forward, is it not just as difficult to believe that GSP has been greasing in between rounds for the past eight or so years, yet has never been caught until now, despite being surrounded by officials, television cameras, and the like? Is it not just as difficult to believe that he greased prior to coming to Camp Jackson, which means he would have had to have informed Greg Jackson about his practice, and gotten him to go along with it? Greg Jackson being a respected trainer and cornerman of prized fighters. I mean, the idea that GSP has been greasing for this long, through various camps, getting away with it all the while despite the presence of officials, fans, and television cameras, is also a tad difficult to believe, is it not?
I'd sooner believe that GSP suffers from abnormally oily skin. Again, the matter needs to be addressed, and I fully respect Penn for coming right forth, but I find it very difficult to believe that GSP has been cheating his entire career... oh, minus in the fights he lost. Funny how Hughes and Serra have nothing to say about those particular bouts. Hopefully, we get this settled, soon.
