I'd be curious how he really knew he was greased in them last two fights to, it's not like he was in a real position to really get a grip on GSP.
He didn't say he greased...

LOL...Hughes is such a douche bag.

He's not saying...just implying.

Hughes is correct though in that either way it had no effect on the outcome of his previous fights with GSP.

In both the 2nd and 3rd fights Hughes looked terrible.

Now I'm not saying Hughes is a terrible fighter; but in those two fights he looked it.

His entire blog gave me the impression that he wasn't writing it to agree with BJ or Mayhem, but to just add in HIS perspective that GSP also felt greasy in his fights, which could imply that either he is indeed greasing, or it could imply that GSP is just naturally greasy. Sounds to me like he's trying to be as fair as possible by not making a direct accusation either way.

I admit I may have labeled YOU wrong, but your post was extremely similar to those who make it seem that the accusers were damned either way. I've seen a lot of those posts lately and the way yours looked resembled them alot, so excuse the assumption that you are the same kinda fan. I just used yours as a quote because it seemed the most fitting for my reply.

Yea I know who they are, they are 2 guys who are known for never making excuses after a loss. So that tells me this was the case again. Maybe they thought he felt greasy but weren't sure at the time if it was his sweat or some vaseline, and now that there is video footage of Vaseline being rubbed on him, they are coming forward. They didn't want to mention anything after the fight because they are not known for being excuse makers. They are stepping forward now to add their personal insight on the matter, which they have every right to do considering they are past opponents of GSP.
All good, my friend. Mis-understanding happens. And I, too, would never expect excuses from Serra and Hughes, but legitimately feeling cheated is not an excuse, in my books. Had they felt that GSP was greasy, and were suspicious about it, I just don't think they'd take it, lying down. Serra and Hughes don't strike me as the type of men to let a transgression of the rules slip by. But that's just my take. Also, whilst some could say that GSP fans are mad-men for not suspecting that something might be up with all of these names now coming forward, is it not just as difficult to believe that GSP has been greasing in between rounds for the past eight or so years, yet has never been caught until now, despite being surrounded by officials, television cameras, and the like? Is it not just as difficult to believe that he greased prior to coming to Camp Jackson, which means he would have had to have informed Greg Jackson about his practice, and gotten him to go along with it? Greg Jackson being a respected trainer and cornerman of prized fighters. I mean, the idea that GSP has been greasing for this long, through various camps, getting away with it all the while despite the presence of officials, fans, and television cameras, is also a tad difficult to believe, is it not?

I'd sooner believe that GSP suffers from abnormally oily skin. Again, the matter needs to be addressed, and I fully respect Penn for coming right forth, but I find it very difficult to believe that GSP has been cheating his entire career... oh, minus in the fights he lost. Funny how Hughes and Serra have nothing to say about those particular bouts. Hopefully, we get this settled, soon.

I agree with this. I don't think GSP has been greasing all this time either. All these guys coming forward other than BJ never said he WAS greasing, they all just say he "felt" greasy...which leads me to believe he probably is greasy, probably from his sweat. But it's possible both ways, I'm just giving him the benefit of the doubt since there's no actual proof and none of these fighters are actually accusing him of cheating.

And they probably didn't think he felt greasy in the one they won because they both ended in the first round (and Serra never grappled with him), which would rule out the possibility of vaseline, and the sweat wouldn't have been as slippery yet.

What the hell was he ranting about?

And yeah, Bruckmann, Pato, Sean Pierson and Richie Nancoo came to my high school back in the day (like 2000) and did about a month of BJJ/MMA training with a gym class of mine that focused on Combative Sports. It's what got me into the sport. Cool guys. His gym is on Wilson Rd in Oshawa if you were curious.

Back on topic. GSP is teh cheater. He shouldn't be allowed to sweat anymore.

This is starting to become really, really, REALLY, annoying and redundant.

As far as I'm concerned GSP's corner got caught doing something that was considered to be breaking the rules, wether it was a ritual and an honest mistake which I believe it to be.

What really pissing me off it that fighters that GSP whomped 1-3 years ago are now coming out and claiming he greased, and attempting to discredit him.

Vaseline doesn't turn you into a world class fighter.

This is the last I'l say on this subject.

I think all these greasing threads should be merged and then closed when the issue is resolved by the NSAC
