Zac Robinson has a little shameless behaviour in the past
This really is sorry and it makes the commission look foolish. How can you have an event with 21,000 in attendance one year, and then backtrack a year later?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Fight Club members were able to start purchasing tickets like yesterday. Hopefully this will be cleared up because it really sucks for the Canadian fans if it doesn't!

They are going to have to move it to another venue. There will be an asterisk next to every victory at that event.

This is absolute bs!!!!!!!!!!! wtf crawled up their a*s? And UFC 83 was THE event of that weekend. Everybody knew and was talking about it. Plus, it brings mad money and for the love of God, Quebec is MMA. Im supposed to get my tickets tomorrow. Is there any realistic way that they'll change that law before april?

OK fine, so no more shows in that area, their loss not the UFC's.

Nanny government to the rescue!

I paid $1200 dollars for 2 5th row seats, and if this is true, i will promptly be asking for a refund. This is unbelievable, as a Canadian (not Canadien) i've seen the Quebec politicians pull this stuff before, i hope UFC pulls out of Montreal permanently, we happen to have great venues here in Alberta, where MMA is legal and properly sanctioned, if Quebec decides they can't allow the UFC in with the rules that are already set in place, we'd be more than happy to accomodate.

p.s. before i get flamed by all the francophones on this forum, this was not a knock on the average french-canadian, just the seperatist politicians who feel the need to change everything that comes into Quebec just to be different than the rest of Canada.

Just more proof that beaurocrats and big government get in the way of business, free trade, and a thriving economy.

I could see it if an investigation was required due to several serious injuries caused by elbow and knee strikes but this is just some knee jerk reaction by some official that want their 15 minutes.

As scarce as cash is now in the world economy and MMA continuing to show that it can generate revenue and create jobs this is a really stupid idea.

I propose a moratorium on big business advocates complaining about big government until big business pays back the money they have been begging for from the government.

Thisevent will not take place under these rules. The sport the UFC promotes is MMA. Under these rules it would no longer be MMA, therefore the UFC wont be having UFC 97 in Montreal.

Its gonna be in Vegas. People will get their refunds and the Vegas show will sell out in days. You dont gotta beg people to pay to see Chuck, Anderson and Shogun on one card.

Especially funny considering Canada awarded GSP athlete of the year. Bare in mind, this is Quebec, not all of Canada -- I wonder what the regulations are like in the other provinces? If somewhere nearby allows MMA, they could move it there (or even to, say, Boston), so that at least some of the people who've already purchased tickets could drive (my guess is that many are coming from the States and other provinces anyway).
