Patrick Cote Wants The Winner Of Franklin-Wanderlei

Here is an interesting peice that I came accross this morning.

Quote:
Patrick Cote spoke with The Fight Network this past Saturday regarding his recovery from the torn meniscus he sustained in his UFC 90 fight with middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Cote stated he would be back in the gym training soon.

“I will be back in the gym fully training in three weeks or so,” said Cote

When Cote returns to the octagon he doesn’t want to waste time with any “warm up” fights, he wants to fight the winner of Franklin vs. W. Slva or any top 5 or 10 middleweight .

“I want to fight someone in the top-five or top-10,” said Cote”I want Alan Belcher or the winner of Rich Franklin vs. Wanderlei Silva,” .

Although there has been no reports of the UFC wanting to bring Vitor Belfort back into the UFC, Cote said he would like to fight Belfort if he came back .

“I would love to fight Vitor Belfort if he came to the UFC,” said Cote.

If Franklin wins(which I believe he will) then Cote should not get the fight against him. Franklin is a step ahead and should have got the decision in the Henderson fight. Franklin is still one of the top contenders, just needs to get everything going again.

The Alan Belcher fight is a more at Cote's level. If he wants that fight then I would be much happier seeing him get that then another free shot at a top fighter.

Frankiln is trying to kick-start his career in 205, so why should Cote get a crack at Rich unless Cote wants to fight at 205?
Out of the 2 I would rather see Cote against Silva.

I think Alan Belcher would be a better opponent for him considering he'll be coming back from the injury. Why he would want Franklin or Silva in his first fight back I have no idea. I think going 3 rounds with an Anderson Silva that was toying with him has really gone to his head.

A lot of fighters have developed in the time Cote was out of action, Maia, Bisping, Hendo and Marquardt are near the top so Cote has to get past those guys next.

Alan Belcher is top 10?

Anderson, Leites, Marquardt, Maia, Okami, Henderson, Bisping, Franklin, Cote, Dan Miller, Palhares and I can keep going.

I mean I would put Gouveia ahead of Belcher.

I want to see Cote/Franklin , good to here he is still ambitious, I think he may be little over eager as I dont know how much knee damage there was but over 3 months is a serious lay off of training when your competing at this level especiall when he'll need to ease back into it.

Agreed, I don't want to see Franklin zigging and zagging between weight classes...he'll never get another title shot at that rate.
