I take Belcher via submission from strikes late in the 2nd.

And no, I'm not joking.

The original poster should have added a poll to this one to see who they think wins this one. If there's one thing that most guys on this forum agree on, it's the complete and utter dislike of Alan Belcher (2nd only to the mad respect for Rob Emerson's leg kicks).

Isn't Belcher signed to fight Alessio Sakara at UFC 99?

If Sexyama-Belcher doesn't happen, I'm blaming you.

That's interesting because Denis Kang was tooling Alan Belcher on the feet, and Akiyama beat the shit out of Denis standing.

Alan Belcher's stand-up is over-rated, especially by him.

Give me Belcher. I predict Akiyama will be yet another overhyped Japanese import that busts against top competition in the UFC. Much like Dong Hyun Kim, Yoshiyuki Yoshida, Keita Nakamura, Kazuhiro Nakamura, Yuki Kondo, Caol Uno, Michihiro Omigawa, Dokonjonosuke Mishima, Ryo Chonan, Kuniyoshi Hironaka, Akihiro Gono ... um are we done yet? The guys mentioned above have a combined UFC record of 9W-27L-1D, a 1 in 4 win ratio. And that's only because there's a semi-legit fighter like Uno in there. Excluding him, it's 6-24-0, with a 1 in 5 win ratio. Okami is about the only successful import so far, and he's a phenomenal exception. IMO A lot of these guys get hyped up from beating cans in Japan with < 50% and sometimes 0% win rates, bagging an occasional submission against a top fighter.

The only legit wins on Sexyama's 11 fight roster are Manhoef (who was extremely one-dimensional and green on the ground and got submitted), and Denis Kang (who has already lost his UFC debut to Belcher). The rest are worse than cans. Flame on... this forum has such a pro-japan bias sometimes, against all tangible results. Granted there are good japanese fighters and some of the best never make it to the UFC, but sometimes the love borders on delusion, when compared with the reality of the UFC records above.

Man I hope Yoshihiro makes his debut at UFC 100 because that would be one amazingly stacked card!

Akiyama by TKO in the first

I've just seen way too many people, even experienced fighters look like crap in their first showing in the cage. It's such a different world than a ring. It does take a while to acclimate.

The first showing is almost never a good showing.

I really do think that Alan is going to work on Take Downs and GnP for this fight as that seems to be where most guys have the issues in the beginning.

Why are you doing this to me guys? I use to love Akiyama i really did, but i just cant stand all this overrating anymore. Just give the guy a chance to prove his greatness first, please.

I think this a close fight to pick, but i may give the slight edge to Akiyama, but it certainly wont be a walk in the park and i wouldnt be surpised at all if Belcher got the W.

Akiyama will win, I think by decision. Sadly, Belcher is the best fighter he's faced since the Misaki fight and he has to get use to the cage.
