End of submissions

It might just be a statistical aberration but there have only been 3 submission victories in UFC 93, UFC 94 UFC 95 and UFC 96. There are usually 10 fights a card and there are only 3 submission wins in about 40 fights.

I find this interesting so I though it would be an interesting discussion point. Is this a decline in top level BBJ guys int he UFC or has everyone's training evolved to the point where they are good at sub defense.

The three subs have been Belcher vs Kang which was a bit of a surprise, Mike Ces... against Neil Grove and that was a rookie error on Grove's part I remember correctly I've been drinking so I may not remember correctly and Maia against Sonnen and that was amazing.

Any thoughts

ps Ive discounted the UFN cos I'm too lazy

Even though I KNOW THIS HAS NOTHING to do with it, but as soon as I read the title of this thread, I immediately thought to myself "Dana definitely has something to do with this." I know it's not the case, just my first thought. Anyway, I think that shit is sad, at least the next Dream cards will have more submissions.

Well it's probably better not to discount the last fight night, seeing as there were 6 submission finishes.

Fedor fights I want to see..

Fedor vs. Josh Barnett
Fedor vs. Randy Couture
Fedor vs. Tim Sylvia - DEMOLISHED
Fedor vs. Andrei Arlovski - DEMOLISHED

hmmmmm, i wonder how many become reality..

lighter guys finish via submission more than the heavier guys....since most PPV's consist more of bigger guys and lighter guys are on FNL's...that could be a reason as well

Don't be too sure....there's been many cuts lately i bet Dana's telling the fighters, if you lose you better be aggressive and/or exciting beforehand or you might not get another fight.
