UFC Quick Quote: Quinton Jackson doesn’t care what Joe Rogan wants to see in a fight

Quote:
“You telling me that Joe Rogan is criticizing me telling me that I’m just boxing, who cares, it’s MMA. I can do whatever I want to do. It’s my fight, right? It’s my fight style. I can come out doing kung-fu if I wanted to. Who cares? Joe Rogan’s a jiu-jitsu guy. I noticed he’s kind of biased toward jiu-jitsu guys. I’m not a jiu-jitsu guy. You can ask most fans what they want to see. They want to see people out there rolling around the ground or do they want to see people out there slugging it out?”

-Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson responds to Joe Rogan’s UFC 96 commentary via Steve Cofield on Cagewriter following his unanimous decision win over Keith Jardine at the “Jackson vs. Jardine” event on March 8. “Rampage” has been taking some heat for his performance against “The Dean of Mean,” but nevertheless still walked out of The Nationwide Arena a winner last Saturday with a chance to challenge Rashad Evans for the 205-pound strap at UFC 98 on May 23. After all, a win is a win…or is it?

Yeah I've noticed it also, the way Rogan has come off the last few fights make it seem Quinton is 1-dimensional or something. Now I see everyone saying "check leg kicks" whenever I'm at a bar watching like they actually know everything.

I think Rogan was saying Rampage would be more effective if he picked up more tools not that he would be more enteretaining. However I haven't heard the interview so I don't know how Cofield explained it he is a guy who likes to start stuff.

I actually agree with a lot of Rogan was saying with adding more tools but its just the way it comes off, makes it seem he's a 1-dimensional boxer. He needs to be careful with how it comes off because he does get carried away sometimes.

Rogan wasn't really critizing as much as he was just making an observation about his game. Rampage is correct though, Joe is very biased towards JJ.

Page is right in that its his fight, he can do whatever he wants and he has been quite successful with his style so far. Rogan is right as an announcer to point out that Rampage is pretty much a boxer with good TDD, which is a good style I think but he could probably be more effective with some kicks or bjj in there. But Page can do what he wants and he is very good at what he does.

Rogan is biased in many of his comments- though I really don't have a huge problem with it and Rashad's pro-Jardine talk might have influenced some of it. Either way I really don't see this as a big deal.

Both are right, really.

Rampage could only increase his tools and ability learning more BJJ, some more kicks, better clinch work, etc. At the same time, Rampage is doing well with his style, isn't getting beat up, and is doing just fine, both men are right.

Agreed, Rogan was just saying that he would be more effective if he threw some leg kicks once in a while. He never said that Rampage wasn't getting the job done though..
