Why are people saying Rampage lost the 1st round?

I just re-watched the 1st round and maybe I need someone to explain to me what everyone else was seeing. Jardine landed a few leg kicks and some glancing jabs and straight rights. In fact his most substantial shot was a straight leg kick down the middle.

However Jackson controlled the Octagon the whole time and was always pushing forward. He had Jardine up against the fence in the clinch twice. In the begining of the round and at the end and Jackson had the better of both of them. Also when Jardine did attempt a takedown it was stuffed and when he had Jackon up against the fence trying to take him down he ate several shots. Jardine was backing up the entire round and when he did engage Jackson won them.

How do people have Jardine winning that round?

I think a lot of people, judges included (minus cecil peoples) just wanted to give Jardine a pity round because he fought so hard. I gave all three to rampage.

Was it round 1 or 2 that Jardine got knocked down the first time, I cant remember. I am pretty sure I had the first round scored for Jardine as he was getting the better of the exchanges, but if Rampage knocked him down he steals the round. I will have to rewatch.

Because Jardine was the aggressor more than half of the round and landed more hits (that was my impression after the first round at least). Rampage had the cleaner shots, but Jardine had more and seemed to have control (again, that was my impression after the first round; I don't rewatch fights).

I gave it to Rampage, but I could have seen it scored either way.

Not a big deal in my book.

I gave 1 to jardine because he was more active, threw more than rampage and seemed to me to be the aggressor?

gave 2 to rampage

3 was close until rampage went WTFOMGBBQSAUCE trying to break his hand on jardines face. Also props to jardine for not going down like a drunk prom date after all that

(he went down but he didnt get laid by the fire while rampage whispered sweet nothings in his ear etc)

Rnd 1 Jardine was landing shots from the clinch with greater frequency than rampage. The effectiveness could be called into question, but they did land. I think that is where jardine scored in rnd. 1.

I was impressed with Jardine's chin. I thought for sure Rampage would KO him with that signature left hook.
