Yeah. I think Hughes fools himself when he thinks he has decent standup. Mind you it does look a bit better but he doesn't appear fluid and relaxed when striking. Plus there's no movement such as circling and creating angles. Being a good striker means more than just throwing hands, gotta have the footwork to go along with it not to mention the defence (slips, parrying and so forth). He can't hang with good strikers.

Well he did say his one dream was to knock someone out with his fists...he just shouldn't have tried that out on someone with amazing, vastly superior stand up.

Matt Hughes punches like a freakin' rock 'em sock 'em robot, honestly. His stand up is so bad. He couldn't take Georges St. Pierre down last night. GSP's strength is unreal and he's stronger than Hughes which I bet surprised alot of people.

You're absolutely right, dude. People keep talking about Hughes having a bad game plan ... he TRIED to impose his game plan but could not handle Georges' talent. As I saw it, he tried 3 times to take St. Pierre down. The first time he simply got outmuscled and pushed him away ... same with the second time. The THIRD time he reached in for a leg and got kicked in the head and that pretty much ended the fight ... face it, there's no way for Hughes to win other than by being lucky on an off night for GSP
