My trash talk of Matt Hughes

I really allowed myself to get sucked in to the pre-fight nonsense that these fighters were told to say in order to create hype...you think GSP wasn't told that he should sh!t talk Hughes after the BJ Penn Fight? You think that Hughes is really dumb enough to believe that Canadians are weaker fighters because of their nationality? It's all meant to stir up a rivalry that wouldn't exist otherwise.

Sure some fighters truly do hate each other but for the most part they know what it takes to get where they are and they have a deep respect for their opponents. That's why they almost always give each other props after the fight. Because the bullsh!t is over and they can say what they really think.

Bottom line is this; these guys are some of the best athletes in the world. They eat sleep and breathe this sport and put their bodies on the line every time they step into the octagon. They may be complete assholes in their everyday life but as athletes and competitors we owe them nothing but respect.

I trash talked Matt Hughes so much before the fight that it was silly. I said he was an "overrated paper champion" who "deserves a severe ass-kicking". I called him a cliche "cocky little dumbass American redneck". And yeah, I'm glad he lost, but he put up the best fight he could, in fact he fought like a mothaphucker and didn't lay down when it wasn't going his way and blame it on a low blow or having the flu...he did fight like a warrior and I look forward to a rematch.

There, I've repented...now I can go back to being a sh!t talking little jerk

Of course he did...it's part of his job to create excitement and hype about the fight. Christ guys c'mon, do you think any of this stuff is accidental or off the cuff? They have board meeting about this sh!t...nothing that happens before the fight is unplanned..nothing at all. And that's all well and fine, it creates a good buzz for the fight, but use your head while your watching it. Remember that its all contrived...it's all bullsh!t

Just saw the post-fight interview and Hughes was actually being very humble. Giving props to GSP. He also said that the second kick to his groin didn't hurt. He actually went down because the kick hurt the inside of his thigh which was GSP's intention.

It's way easier to be humble when you've just had your head bashed in.
