Matt Hughes (fighter) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quote:
On November 18, 2006 at UFC 65: Bad Intentions, Hughes lost his title against Georges St. Pierre. St. Pierre completely dominated the fight despite unintentionally landing two groin kicks in the first round knocking Hughes out in the second round with a high kick and a barrage of ground and pound strikes. The referee stopped the fight and declared a TKO at 1:25 in the second round, ending Hughes' title streak. Though Hughes will most likely come back and regain his title by slamming Georges St. Pierre's head through the floor of the octogon.

Ok, here is how the fight went.

George beat up Matt, plain and simple. They fought and Matt got his ass kicked.

I said before the fight even started that I bet Hughes would come up with some reason to stop the fight, just like he did with Penn. When they showed the replay it looked like Penn just graved the bottom of his eye and not the eye itself, and it looked like GSP just hit him on the upper thigh and not the groin.

No it didn't, in a post fight interview, matt said himself that the second hit him on the leg and not on the groin, im sorry but i believe matt and not you...

and the first one hit the base of the cup (yes its still wrong, and it was a mistake, and GSP and HUGHES touched gloves to show everything was ok) but the ref asked hughes if he was ok, and matt agreed, so it doesn't matter how bad it was, because hughes still wanted to go on!

so GSP won fair and square!

For most of you, ignorance is bliss, but for me it's about the truth.

As someone who has played contact sports and been in several mma fights and karate full contact fights, i can tell you it doesnt hurt THAT BAD when you catch a nut shot if you are wearing your cup, not bad enough to drop you.
So maybe his inner thigh was caught up pretty bad.

Ya the second leg kick hit right in the nerve that runs all the way down the leg, it most likley tightened up and matt fell. But Big John thought it was a groin shot, so he pulled GSP away.

because just think how hard GSP hit that nerve, thats one mega charlie horse!
